Hi Pink Grandma,
The Pancreatitus, was very painful and effected her breathing as well. It was treated with Antibiotics intravenously and she was in the hospital for a week. They told her that her Pancreas was suspect able to it from her past alcohol use ( I though that was weird as she has not drank in over 4 years) but that is what the Dr contributed it too. They did do a endoscope and she has several Varicoses, but they were not the problem in this instance.
She has very low platelets and low blood pressure, the Lactulose and the meds, contribute to that I think.
Her husband has taken an active roll in helping with her diet and he has gone to the nutritionist with her and he makes her meals and that is great, I will say though ( out of earshot of him and my family) That no he has note educated himself on the disease as he is quick to suspect that the nuttiness that she experienced and will probably again, he feels is her use of pain meds and drama on her part. He never reads about the disease and when she worries and talks about fearing dying ( she is 55) he says in a John Wayne tone " We are all going to dye sometime" When I hear that I think I have to restrain myself from helping his time along LOL....There is no love lost between us , I do remind myself that he lost his drinking and partying buddy of over 25 years and that by the time he gives up his wild lifestyle if he does, he will have his own demons to confront and that helps me to practice
compassion. My sister was in the hospital for 5 days when he reminded her that he was still going on vacation to bike week even if she was not out or diagnosed! and that is exactly what he did. So yeah that has not changed.
Thanks for reading my other post, yes it is really taking up a lot of space in my head right now, but I am sure it will be ok :)
Just scary.
