Hello everyone, I hope everyone got through the long weekend with ease! Doug is having some good days so my daughter and I walked down to the waterfront for the fireworks, we had a nice dinner in the grass and did alot of people watching. You can see the most bizzar sights down here for the 3rd and 4th of July. I had a really nice evening, the walk was awesome. I love looking at other peoples gardens and the way they design their yards. It was definatly a ME ME ME evening and loved every second of it, I had missed last years fireworks and parade. Next week we are taking doug in his wheelchair that we finally got, down to the waterfront for a free jazz and blues concert. Hopefully all stays well and he can go. He finishes his last IV on thursday and goes for a tap on friday. They found a bacteria in his system when he had the last hepatic coma episode, so we have been doing home IV's since and he has been better than he has in a long time so we shall take what we can get.

Sue I am so glad that you had a me day and enjoyed yourself. Every caregiver needs to get a break every now and then. It does a world of good. smurf

Sue, I'm so glad that Doug is having some good days, and you are getting to enjoy yourself. Take advantage of them. You never know when you will get them again. I also love looking at other peoples gardens. If I had more time and money my gardens would look spectacular.

My garden is actually just a little bigger than a full size bed, then next to it I got some free patio blocks and made an area big enough for 2 chairs. Doug calls it "My corner" and it is my peaceful spot. My daughters get it going every mothers day with some bright annuals, they rake it and put down some new mulch, the perenials have been done a little at a time over 5 yrs. Its kind of like an english garden like my gramma's was. I used to love going back to england and just sitting for hours lookig at all the flowers she had, I just dont do roses to much work. I like lazy and easy.

Dear Sue, PG, & Butterfly,

I am not having a good caregivrer day. I will try to do better today. Right now, the dogs are resrless and so am I.
It's not a pity party. I am just so-o-o tired. Terry is watching TV and I am going to have to leave him soon. Mom will be up soon and I just need a healhy "Hello!"

Sue- So glad you got to enjoy your weekend. I love to look at flower gardens too and have tried this year to spend time outside in the dirt this year myself. I am so envious of my neighbors garden. There whole yard is beautifully landscaped and this year they have even done a a wonderful grape vine area. Hopefully they will stay inside long enough for me to be able to snag some of those when they are ripe. I will keep positive thoughts that the good days give you the strength to deal with the bad.

Carol - You have a right to be tired. Taking care of us patients is not an easy job. And there is nothing wrong with having a "pity party". I certainly have them on occassion, I think we all do. Feels good just to get it out sometimes. I hope your today is better.

Sue, I'm so glad to hear that you had a nice weekend and were able to get out some.

{{{{{{{{{Carol}}}}}}}}}}}  That's a big virtual hug for you.  I hope you will get some rest at some point today.

I did 3 loads of laundry in the hot and humid laundry room at my complex and am totally wiped out.

Carol, Oh my gosh a pity pot day is so normal here....... I think much deserved too. We cant be always positive, cheery people cause guess why? Oh maybe because we are HUMAN and life has thrown us all a curve ball whether we are the caregiver or the patient, this was not one of our dream plans in life. We search for our good moments and keep on going. Sometimes I think the down moments allow our natural born self preservation skills to kick back in and pick us up. Keep up the faith.

LUCY, Oh my when you said that about snagging some grapes I had a good chuckle. I have always had a good imagination and I can just see what I can picture is a woman sitting in the neighbors garden with a pile of grapes in front of you with a big grin just eating away as they pull up to their house with looks of dismay...... just to funny. See when I lived in Germany pregnant women were allowed to eat all the fresh fruit and veggies they wanted, didnt matter if a stand or farm as long as you didnt walk away with it in your pocket. I was pregnant with my first and ate everything in sight some of the stands with pastries even allowed me to "graze" thanks for the memories

You and I haven't talked much, have we? I'm sorry about that. You have a lot to offer. Sometimes I forget that you have liver disease. I just always think of you being from WV and that is so close to my stomping ground. I imagine you healthy and roaming through the hills. I don't even know if you are in the hills or not. It's just the way I like to think of you in WV. I miss a lot of things about living in the hills of KY, but I got really tired of the winters and making sure I had enough firewood. I really got tired of the sorry men around there that wanted to "help me out because my husband was always on the road." Terry's S&W 44 always managed to make a point though. Works every time. Guess I'll inherite all the guns, too, if I don't go first. NO, I'm not against protecting myself, in case anyone is wondering. Just hope I get off the first rounds.

 

How are you these days Lucy? Well enough to steal those grapes, I hope. Terry would steal watermelons and peaches, if there were any close by.

Thank you Sue, PG, Butterflythree, Lucy, Connie, & JoAnn & John (because I know you 2 are here for all of us) and Shelly too, and Everyone else that is reading this. We truely do become an extended family. I feel so isolated at times, with no one  to talk to face to face. 2 old buds came to visit Terry today and even they told me to slow down and breath for a few minutes. I did, but then I had to take off again.

We have no scheduled appointments tomorrow. I hope I can get Mom and Terry to take a drive to the beach tomorrow. I think we all need that. They have both been talking about wanting it to all be over with. I don't know how to answer to that at this point.  Maybe you should come to live with us,Connie. You could probably kick some life into then!!! tongue

I don't know about that, Carol...I've been dragging it myself the last few days.  eyes    It's like doing laundry in the heat and then grocery shopping the next day just totally wiped me out.  I had my cleaning gal coming today, so couldn't sleep all day like I wanted to.  Maybe tomorrow.  One of my cats kept getting me up every hour on the hour, from 6:30 AM on.  I kept getting up and then going back to sleep...until I finally had to get up to at least put some clothes on and have some coffee before the cleaning person arrived.  I'm so sleepy now I can hardly keep my eyes open.  I can't nap, as I need to go to the mail box--which is 2 blocks away, in back of the complex office.  I'm waiting until the temp goes down some.  Right now it's 91 and very humid.  I have a movie in the mailbox from Netflix, Into the Woods.  I'll probably wait until tomorrow night to watch it, though. 

I hope everyone is having a good Friday.

Carol, I am glad you are here. I really enjoy reading your posts. You seem to have a good sense of humor for all that you are having to deal with in your life. I hope you get to the beach tomorrow. Me, I will probably be here cleaning or trying to get myself up off the couch to clean.

Connie, The heat can really drag a person down. My central air is not working well. The temperature in my house is 84. The temperature outside is 92 here in Missouri. I have heard that Florida does not have as much humidity as we do. Is that true? At least I have an above ground pool to jump into if it gets too bad. Hope you are able to rest this evening.

Hi Butterflythree,

Well, we didn't make it to the beach, but Mom & I did take a short ride down by the zoo. We didn't stop, but you can ride through and see some of the animals.

Terry is in a real brain fog today. He just won't do the lactulose at all. He was trying to drink a can of Sprite and it wasn't even open. Then he tried to light a cigarette and it was a AA battery instead. He stayed here and napped while we took a drive. He has been doing these things all day.

It looks like bad storms in Missouri-baseball sized hail!!! Are you getting any of that?
It looks like it is going to storm here too.

I know I write crazy stuff sometimes. When I go back to read it the next day, I can't believe some of the things I've said. But I really can't believe that the new guy found a spider naevus in his nose. I just had to ask him.

Hi Carol, I'm sorry that Terry isn't doing well today. I know how brain fog effects everyone. It can be very frustrating and scary. Have you tried putting the lactulose in Sprite? That's the only way my brother-in-law will take it. My husband just drinks it straight down. I am really glad. I don't know what I would do if he would get stubborn about it.

So far we haven't gotten any bad storms. I hope they miss us. We are supposed to get some rain tomorrow.

I don't think the things you say are crazy. I think they are humorous. You got to have a good sense of humor to deal with the things that you are dealing with.

Connie, I just watched that movie. Then I watched "The Bucket List". That was a good movie too.
I get 2 movies a month from Netflix.
Terry seems a little better today so far. He finally drank a little Enulose last night, but I don't think he knew what it was. I had put it in some Sprite and left it sitting on the table. He got up in the middle of the night and came down to the family room and slept on the floor.
I think I'll go mow some grass. Have a great day!

Hi. I have been trying for days to answer you but every time I type a reply it tells me I don't have permission. Not sure what is going on but I hope it goes through and you didn't 'think I was ignoring you. I live very close to the KY border here and understand that you could miss the hills. I will however miss my trip to your "neck of the woods" this year. We normally try to get to your area at least once a year but unfortunately we are not going to be able too. I find it so peaceful there just sitting in my beach chair in the surf with my toes wiggling in the sand. Even with all the chaos that is going on around me I feel so peaceful. I guess my last resort is to wait till my neighbors leave and pretend that their vine garden is the beach. I can only imagine what they would think driving in and finding me sitting in my beach chair a pile of grapes in my lap and wiggling my toes in their grass. Next time I am in your area Terry and I will have to go on a watermelon hunt. You can be the look out since you have the arterilery. I can only imagine those mens faces that were trying to be so helpful.

Butterfly, whoever said FL isn't humid lied!  nono    It is VERY humid, particularly along the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts.  I'm 5 miles from the beach.  You could wring out the air, it's so humid.

Carol, The Bucket List was great, too!  I average a movie a week from Netflix.  I started out with 2 a month and then upgraded to one at a time, unlimited amount.  Sat. night I saw Into The Woods, which was a Broadway musical that was filmed.  It was entertaining.
