Thyroid Condition & liver disease

Hi All,

I just wanted to share my experience of how important it is for us all to get our thyroids checked, especially if we have done Hep C combo treatment.

I did combo treatment, it killed my thyroid (completely they said) and I've been on synthroid ever since. The past week or so I've felt especially anxious, demented, forgetful, had spiking fevers, night sweats, fatigue, insomnia, shaking hands, no appetite, extremely moody. All common liver disease problems. When I could barely cross the room and couldn't remember why - I went to Dr. I was afraid to drive there for fear of a complete panic attack or worse.

Turns out I have an overdose of thyroid medication - which mean my thyroid is attempting to kick in as my dose of synthroid had not changed. Hormones are very powerful and must be balanced out to have a chance at feeling normal. I already feel better after 1 day of not taking synthroid.

Hope this helps some of you as we don't need an additional condition to worry about.

Hi Cary, My husband had to take thyroid medication for awhile when he was on the combo treatment. I think his thyroid started working again about a year after he was off the treatment, and he no longer had to take the medication. I bet what you went through was pretty scary. I'm glad that you were able to find out what was going on.
