The roller coaster continues

Hello Everyone, Just checking in and doing an update. I have missed catching up here on everyone. I have been busy trying to work and travel to the city to visit my hubby. He has been in the hospital since 11/7, he was admitted from a routine visit for possible peritonitis which they determined he didnt have but his kidneys were failing. They ended out draining 26 litres of fluid in ten days which made his kidneys worse. So now he cant be drained and cant take diuretics either and oh yeah the infection they thought he had then said didnt show up in the culture now shows up in the culture..... go figure. During all this I did another one of my tangents and called the transplant team and informed them they needed to go over to the hospital and round up all the little children pretending to be doctors, that went over well hehehehe!   So now his treatments are being more closely monitored by the team..... duh. He is now next in line for a transplant but only till 10am tuesday when they update the MELD score which his has improved so he will lose that status...... up down up down here we go....... this ride is so scary.

Then of course I have to toss more #%^* on the big pile already there and tore my left rotator cuff and messed up my left wrist. My first surgery is monday to fix the wrist got cortizone for shoulder as I cant do that yet. I was totally useless for 3 weeks when my right was fixed..... ! I cant do pain meds so I just cry for a few days then suck it up!! Got my grandson coming over monday to clean..... thats a fright I have seen how he keeps his room...LOL   this has got to be shear desperation.  I did have something kind of cute and funny happen, one of the doctors I threatened with a turkey baster and lactulose bought me the best chocolate cake I have ever had..... He told Doug I was an amazing woman. Doug said he would have been worried he was hitting on me but he also has a look of fear when I walk in.... hehehe. I guess the cake will keep me from threatening him for awhile, he hopes.

First of all, I am so sorry you are going through this....you don't need all this stuff with your surgery, etc on top of your husband. You hang in there...you must be one STRONG woman to go through all that with no pain meds....me, I am a big baby!!

Second of all.......that is hysterical....threatening the doc w/ a turkey baster and lactulose!! That's sooooo funny!! I have had MANY thoughts lately about our docs, including the ones on the transplant team, and you have given me a great idea!! HA HA HA!!

I do hope your hubby gets a liver soon. This is SUCH a roller coaster ride! You hange in there.....my thoughts and prayers are with you

Well hand surgery is done and recovery on track for me anyway! Doug took a fall at the hospital. broke his knee cap and had to have his face sewn up. He is a mess, his face and chest is the color of eggplant. Poor guy is devastated his numbers went down on the list and now he is pretty banged up. Guess I am taking another leave from work while we get the process done on upgrading our PCA plan to more hours as he will be home but need more hours of someone here. Life just throughs a bunch of wrenches in the works huh? I think if life gets normal I would be lost hehehe yeah right! Oh and by the way my chocolate cake was a slice of heaven, the kind of cake you need to have a smoke afterwards.

Sue, I am sorry that Doug fell in the hospital. I was so afraid that my husband was going to do that. Once out of intensive care he was allowed to walk to the restroom. I had been helping him. They were giving him so much Lactulose that he had to keep going back and forth. The hospital wouldn't let me stay the night and nurses are always understaffed. The nurse assured me that someone would help him. When I got there the next morning he was returning from the restroom alone. He was fine, but it still worried me.
