tips procedure tomorrow

Good luck with the procedure! Prayers being said for it to be a success! BTW, my husbands encephalopathy was no worse after the procedure.

Thoughts and prayers........

Thanks for all your prayers. I am just checking in before returning to the hospital today. The procedure went well with no complications. He was taken back at about 12:15 pm, and we didn't hear back until around 4:30 that everything went fine. He spent about an hour in recovery and then was taken to ICU. We were able to see him at about 5:45. He has been in a lot of pain, but otherwise seems to be doing well. They have changed his pain medication, and we are hoping that it works. He is having a lot of pain in his stomach and his back. We will find out today when he will be going home. We were told a 1 to 2 day hospital stay.

That is great news, Butterfly!  I hope they can get his pain under control and that he can return home soon.

Thanks everyone. He is doing pretty well, pretty drugged with medication to control the pain. The doctors expect to release him from the hospital tomorrow.

Hi, Mer!  I'm glad they found the cause of your husband's pain.    Let us know how his surgery goes.

Hello, all!

Our surgery went well. In fact, this morning before surgery, they did a CT scan, and it showed the kidney stones. But, he must have passed it before surgery (ouch!) because when they went in after it....there was nothing there!! At any rate, they also went a head and cleared out some calcification that was there and scoped all the way up to the kidney, which looked good. SO, he's home resting very well!

Butterfly.....did you guys get to go home today?? How is your hubby feeling?? I do hope better!

Hi Everyone, My husband was finally released from the hospital around 5:00 pm yesterday. We had to wait for the results of a CT scan before he could be released. We were told a small amount of pain is normal after the procedure but not alot of pain. The CT scan showed a little fluid, but everything else looked fine. The pain has pretty much diminished today. His medications have all been adjusted. His Lasix and potassium has been cut in half. He know longer has to take magnesium or Nadolol (used for portal hypertension). I have been told to watch for signs of encephalopathy and to increase the lactulose if needed.

After getting my husband home from SLU, I had to go to the hospital here in town to see my grandmother. She has suffered with heart disease for many years. During her last stay at the hospital she developed an infection. She passed away today around 10:30.
