77Stevens, welcome to the forum! Congratulations on your
cancer remission! I also had
liver cancer, but had to go through a couple of treatments to shrink the
tumor and then had the entire rt. lobe removed. After that, I became very conscious of what I eat. I avoid red meat and eat lots of fresh fruit and veggies. I believe the veggies you ate could be just as good for you raw or steamed and not juiced...but I suppose you can intake more if they are juiced. Have you tried this with your dad? I have hep C and my liver
enzymes are normal for the first time in years. I can only attribute it to diet. Of course, I don't drink alcohol or take illegal drugs, and I quit smoking 7 yrs. ago. Your dad may as well try a healthful diet. It can't hurt and will at least boost his
immune system. I also recommend at least 500 mg of
vitamin C daily and a
multivitamin w/o iron.
If it becomes necessary, he could be referred for
transplant evaluation. We had another poster recently who said his family member was told there was no
liver function. I, too, find this impossible to believe if someone is living. Usually, they will say there is 10% function.
Does your dad have
ascites (fluid in the belly) or
esophageal varices? What symptoms is he currently having?
Again, welcome!
Connie
