Sodium & Solid White Tuna (Bumble Bee) in a can

I prefer the Bumble Bee tuna in oil. The 5 ounce can has two servings, tastes better than the albacore, has fish oil that's good for you and has 180 mg. of sodium per serving. Having oil negates the need to use butter or mayo to make a sandwich. I usually take a half can and put it in a salad, lettuce, celery and red onion. I use the oil with some lemon juice as a dressing. Tastes great and is good for you. 180 mg. of sodium is about 20% of what I try to maintain per day. Under 1,000 mg. a day makes my hepatologist and dietitian happy. Some of the imported tuna in olive oil may have less salt, but I don't have a can in the house to look at. It certainly tastes better. Olive oil is good stuff if used in small quantities. Sardines are also good. **David**

Update

This past week I found some very low sodium, Bumble Bee, 5oz., 2servings, 35 mg's., a serving, solid white albacore at the Market Basket. It is more expensive, but the lower the sodium the better. I quit smoking in October and it was an instant pay raise, so now I do not mind spending more money on fresh foods, meat, vegetables, etc. Before I was neglecting my food selection and purchasing all cheap stuff and did not even realize it!
