Good Morning
Had my follow-up consultation with my hepatologist doctors yesterday. They do not know why I am not getting rid of the adequate sodium amount in my body and this is the reason why I am retaining so much fluid. They are changinging my medication to 80 mg. of Furosemide and 20 mg. of Amiloride up from 40mg of Furosemide and 10mg. of Amiloride that I started a week ago. Also 400 mg. of OTC magnesium Oxide daily. 2 weeks ago I was taking 40mg. of Furosemide and 50 mg. of Spironolactone. I could not handle 100 mg.'s of Spironolactone because of the excess cramping. I only lasted 4 or 5 days on the 100 mg. Spiro. This also happened when I first added the 100mg. of Spiro back on November 20th. I think I lasted about a week that time before they cut my meds in half. Alot of med juggling, but I hope I start losing this water weight because it is really uncomfortable in my stomach, legs feet, etc. and sleeping at night. The 2 doctors I talked to said if the Amiloride does not work with the Furosemide, I wouls have to go back to the100 mg.'s of Spironolactone or more mg."s. This medication combo seems to work for most. What scares me is that the furosemide seemed to work at one time and then lost it's potency and if they put me back on the Furo & spiro combo, I fear the cramps. I fear the cramps now that they upped my meds today, but I have to take the good with the bad. No pain No gain. Hope this works. This has been an up and down see-saw for the last 7 months. Thanks for listening. Have a happy, healthy & all good news day!
