Cirrhosis with good LFT?

Can one have fibrotic liver in spite of always having had satisfactory liver function tests? The gastroenterologist I have seen said I don't have liver disease, but I have a lot of edema. The flank next to the liver aches. There is a bulge in the right lower abdomen that is considerably more swollen then the left. Also I had pitting edema of the legs that is improved with spironolactone. I've been sick for ten years and now worse. Low potassium and muscle aches are one of the symptoms doctors overlooked.

I have not had a liver biopsy and I read no one would do that test without high liver enzyme tests. Yes, low potassium will cause muscle cramps and I have low potassium. The connection of low potassium to liver is portal hypertension can disrupt circulation to the kidney. That will cause potassium excretion and sodium excess along with water retention. This can also cause hypertension. I have bloating, excessive thirst, excessive urination and bowel symptoms (light color - was fatty last year. The bowel symptoms are improved from a year ago. I have had itching and other symptoms of liver issues. I have a new onset of right flank pain

Through the years, the liver function tests have been satisfactory. The only one that was high was decades ago and related to diabetes and returned to normal once diabetes was managed. The gastro says no liver disease because the LFT comes back normal.

Episodically, I have consumed alcohol in excess. But I don't have five years of daily drinking in my past if you add them all up. There are year long periods of abstinence in between. The liver tests really don't look different either way.
