Guess I don't know who to talk to

I miss school today cause I wasn't feeling very well and decided to go to the clinic, After speaking with the doctor he advised me that there might be an issue with my liver.

He didn't want to put me on med's cause after what I had told him with whats been going on. He advised that if he put me on anything that my liver might fail on me..

My jaw dropped, I didn't know to cry right away or just say " yeah right doc, what's really going on with me"

Then he gave me a few other options that I might have to get on the transplant list.

I'm 26 years old and scared to death, I can't tell my friends cause I don't want to burden them and My parents are so old school that they just won't understand.

My appointment for the specialist isn't till a month away, I wish I never put this off and I wish I was never introduce to the club scene.

I'm sorry to put this out here. Just don't know what to do or where to go from here.

A year ago I ended up in the hospital for Alcohol poisoning, Doctor had advised me that I have an enlarged liver. Of course stupid me didn't bother going to see a specialist on it.

5 months ago I've been getting sick a lot. Meaning Anytime anyone had a cold I would get sick for weeks and weeks even months. After I get better if someone had a minor cough I would be sick again for weeks on end.

I Can't eat.. Everything I get doesn't stay in. I've been getting sick and foam would come up.. Even when i drink water and I get sick and foam would come up.

I knew sometime was wrong but was just to busy to get it checked out.

I got my blood work done. Now he wants to do ultrasound and gastric he thinks it could also be hep b?

Don't know how I would get that.

All I keep thinking is that my family is just gonna blame this all on me. And now that i'm missing school. This is the worst day of my life.

Don't start assuming that your life is over, just because a doctor told you of dire consequences. If they haven't run tests and are trying to scare you straight, shame on them. Have the tests, beginning with blood work and then you'll have something to start with. Don't think your family will blame you. Everyone makes mistakes and your problem might not be a result of alcohol poisoning. Freaking out won't help the situation. Calm down and see a hepatologist or at least a gastroenterologist for a more thorough diagnosis. If your friends turned their back on you, they're not true friends. We're here to help you. **David**

You don't know what you have, so it's too early to assume the worst.

Hello vVAsianVv, and welcome to HealingWell.  

As Sandi said,  "Take a deep breath" and calm down.   Panicing will not do you any good.

But I don't understand about the results of the bloodwork taking a week.  Are you in the US?   If so call where you had the blood drawn and comfirm with them that it actually takes a week.   I got my husband's results the same day for most of the bloodwork. 

They would fax the results to me at my place of employment so I got them at the same time as his doctors.   His doctor had to approve for them to do this though.  

If in fact it actually takes a week.........keep yourself busy.   Go to class and get your mind of it.   Easier said than done ........but it can be done.    

Your health should be your top priority.......if you think something is seriously wrong get it checked out.  Don't put it off.  

Also until you get the results.........do not drink alcohol.   If in fact your liver is damaged.......drinking alcolhol is like throughing gasoline on a fire.

I'm in Ontario Canada and I went to talk to my cousin and she just pushed me away,,

I guess I will be dealing with this on my own :( Yes he did a Hep b test and live and other stuff and i'm going for an ultrasound and gastrics on June 10th

So I got a call yesterday from the doctors office, And they advised me to come in and see the doctor today.

The results are I have to come back and take another test after my ultrasound. He kept-ed on looking at the paper and when he tried to talk he would studder and look at the paper.

He said that my liver level was high whatever that means, But he said he needed to take more test.

should I be worried ha he asked me if I was still drinking.

I said no.. " I lied"

I had one last night I was so upset.

If your doctor came in and told you that you have cirrhosis, what would be different? If you get an all-clear, would you continue to drink until your liver does go out? I think in either case all you can do is be strong and take care of yourself. Take vitamins, eat right, and think forward.

People as young as us are incredibly resilient, whether we acknowledge it or not. But this is your chance. Make a change. As much abuse as I've done to myself, I shouldn't be here, but I am. If you have a problem quitting get help. But Connie is right - Do not take another drink. The next one might be the last.

I understand that and I haven't had one since last night. And If I am in need of a new live I will NOT and I mean NOT be drinking once I get my new LIVER.

It is hard when you have no support next to you and when you try to talk to someone and it just get's brushed of..

I am not asking for pitty I guess I'm just here needing the support I need.

But If people here think that I'm asking for PITTYNESS then I guess I'll find the support some where else.

I don't pity you. I was crazy in my late teens and twenties, but alcohol wasn't my drug of choice. Psychedelics were mine. None of what I did brought me to a doctor with a health related problem. Would I have quit, had that happened? Probably not. I didn't have anyone with this kind of experience to talk to.Your case is different. People on this forum have been involved in alcohol/liver failure problems. Learn from them. You said if there's a problem with your liver, then you'll quit. There is a problem, otherwise you wouldn't be here. Don't wait to find out how much of a problem it is. Quit now and if it turns out there's no problem, then you can go back to partying. Having said that, I hope this scare makes you face reality and slow down. Alcohol poisoning certainly should have been enough. You say you've been sick since then and are still drinking. Look at what's happening to you. If you truly don't want to burden your parents, stay dry for them, if not for you. I'm not down on you, but I am down on what you're doing to yourself and those who care about you. Believe me, everyone here cares. That doesn't mean I'm going to blow smoke up your skirt. It's this simple - alcohol is a poison. A poison that is particularly bad for livers (not so good for other organs, too). No more drinking until you find out what's going on from your doctor. Do the right thing for yourself, your parents and us. I've seen enough bad endings on this forum, we'd like a happy one. Please! **David**

I do understand what everyone is saying and I thank you for that, This is why I came here hoping that I was going to get the support I need. It's hard I don't drink to party I drink to forget. If I stop drinking then all the bad stuff will come back. If I don't stop drinking then i'm gonna end up dead.

I have tired and I've been doing week. I went from Everyday drinking to 3 times every other week drinking.

I started drinking since I was 13 and haven't stop since. I want to stop cause I can see what it is doing to me. My uncle is the same way. He drinks everyday and nothing is wrong with him.

After reading a lot of post on here, That I will not be drinking anymore. I don't want my parents to have to say "GoodBye" anytime soon or my friends..

And I would like to see my lil brother off to collage.

I do want a family :)

I just wish my appointment could come sooner. I'm sad that I have to wait almost a month to get everything done.

But I will Keep everyone posted and Thank you so much for everything.. Being able to listen/read means a lot.

I know some ppl think that it doesn't mean anything but it does.

Cause if I hadn't run into this site.. Thinks would not have looked so well.

i dont know asian, my mom used to get pain in her legs when her potassium was low. the headache can just be a normal headache.

i dont know why people drink even when their liver is getting bad. you are so young and have a enlarged liver its sad. i hope for your sake that there is no cirrhosis or major liver damage and that its just a warning sign. if it is a warning sign then heed the sign. DONT DRINK. im sorry but i just lost my mom in november to cirrhosis and hep c. the cirrhosis from the hep c and drinking. trust me it is not a pretty thing to die from. i would say i am not trying to scare you but i am. maybe by scaring you it will help you. i still post here because i feel if i can help one person then my mom would not have died in vain.

when she died she had fluid leaking from her belly, her eyes, her nose, her mouth and i believe her ears. her kidneys failed her, her liver failed her and her heart failed last. im sure if it wasnt for her being in a coma that it would have been painful. when she was alive i had to leave work two or three times because she was in so much pain she couldnt walk and we spent the day in the er. there were days she was so jaundiced she looked green and not just her face, her entire body. there were days were we could have the same conversation over and over and over because the liver disease messed with her memory. there were days were my mom had no energy to even get out of bed and eat. the meds that she had to take, constant doctor stays and er visits. oh and dont forget the ascites(water retention) at one point they removed 3 liters or gallons(im not sure which) from her belly and she still looked 8 months pregnant.

and all this is just what was happening to her i wont even go into how it made me and my sister feel. all the heartache we have been through the pain and the suffering and the guilt that i feel every day because of this disease.

hun im not being mean but if you continue this is where you will head possibly(every one is different) and i hope that you can understand where i am coming from. dont wait for a diagnosis to quit drinking, quit now. go to AA, get a sponsor, talk to your parents or school counselor, or get a counselor. dont wait til its too late as im sure anyone can tell you once its too late there is no returning.

vV, please look for an AA group near you (call the number listed under Alcoholics Anonymous in the phone book and they will give you the info of the group closest to you.)  AA helps you cope with all the "bad stuff" that is there when you stop drinking.  It gives you a way to stop drinking and be at peace with yourself and others.  You will also find a lot of support there.  In larger cities, there are also AA groups for young people.  Try it.  You have nothing to lose but your misery.
