Good for both of you! Most of what you need to pack is for you. In the hospital, a johnny is required, as there will be too many tubes going to and fro, for normal clothing. After he's out, sweat pants and t-shirts are good. Make sure to pack a cellphone charger and some reading material (for you). You don't need a blade razor. Electric is fine. If you have people who need to know, make a plan to call a good friend, so they can call all of the rest of your friends and relatives. You don't need to be dealing with that until later down the road. I'd email, but by provider is messed up right now. By the way, what's his MELD score as of now?

Good suggestions! I do have a pet sitter and a back up pet sitter and all my contacts are on two phones. His MELD score isn't too high by itself but the cancer bumps it up. Even though the tumors are gone right now, it's understood that there may be some lurking and undetectable so it's still graded as cancer. I don't really have to worry about him shaving. He used to have a beard and mustache but that hasn't been growing much for the past few years. Even his chest hair disappeared a long time ago. One day, I had my hand on his chest and realized all the fuzz was gone! They said liver disease will do that.

I bought a new refrigerator last week. Our old one was 16 years old and it wasn't cooling well. I'm going to stock up on some basics in the freezer so I won't have too be running to the grocery store as soon as we get home from the hospital. We also replaced our AC unit and had new ductwork installed. Our house was built in 1969 and I'm sure the ducts were nasty. The coolest it was getting on a hot day was 87 degrees. I want him to be comfortable.

I know it could be a long wait for a transplant and I do realize he needs to maintain fairly good health to remain on the list but I have to think positive and be prepared. Please keep the suggestions coming if you think of anything I should be doing to prepare in advance.
