FINALLY, Re-Approved!!!

I finally got word today that medicaid has approved coverage for transplant. My husband had been in status 7 (inactive) status for about a year because of the constant seizures he was having. They have been under control since March and when our transplant team tried to re-list him, Medicaid rejected saying they did not have enough documentation for medical necessity, etc. Well, I finally got the word today that Medicaid has approved it as of today, and now I am just waiting for our transplant coordinator to call me. I am not sure if my husband will have to go through the complete evaluation again, or if it's a matter of just getting labs done to re-list him. Keep your fingers crossed and say a little prayer!

I agree with Connie. They'll probably want a complete reevaluation. It's a good thing. If there are any new problems, you'll find them out. A transplant is huge. People in good shape don't make it sometimes, so they have to know if there are any possible (medical) surprises.

PG, Mer said he's been inactive for about a year. That's why I feel sure he will have to go through most of the evaluation testing again. As David said, things could have changed and they have to know exactly what condition he is in NOW.

YIPPEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

Okay, heard from our transplant coordinator this afternoon. Great news! He does not have to go through a complete evaluation again. We just need to set up an appt with our PCP and get labs drawn for his MELD score and fax them over to the transplant team for him to be re-listed. Will call in the morning and get that set up. Will keep you all posted!
