Caregiver's sharing thread IV

I've had a good weekend also.

Our family tree has a lot of dotted lines...unmarried partners, moms with multiple partners, and thus steps and half sibs, etc. But we don't care. Loving the babies is all that counts and being good people is what counts. So, this week, my ex-daughter in law came to spend time with Pop Pop, who is not related to her in any way, even by marriage...she is a step of a step I think, and her daughter (5) witha boyfriend, who is adorble.

We are having a great time. And I am having some time off. they took Pop Pop to the stores today and I had TIME alone. Get that. And not at 1AM.

Pop Pop and I took the not quite grandaughter to the movies and gave her Mom a sorely needed 2 hours off!

She will help me with the appointments, shopping, and cooking this week and we will try to get in some beach time and the acquarium. Fun. Pop Pop puts on his best face when the kids are around. Which is a relieve from his depressive state much of the time we are alone.

PS: We read that Ron is having his ups and downs, but hanging in. Pam's posts show his day to day post tx experience, which is very very interesting for Mike right now!

my phone doesn't type GUD...6 days a week. Or 6 times a week. Some days he does 2 meetings if he's missed for other than medical. Carol

still down w/vertigo. worse today. was able to eat dinner last night...so i thought it would be all better today. :( going to ENT this afternoon.

My thoughts:

Sometime people can get very sick, especially when they are old.

Grandma is very sick.

The doctors are trying to make her better.

We hope she can get well and visit with us. and (read stories, go to movies, enjoy her birthday party...whatever you have done that is good and fun).

But while she is very sick, we have to take care of her all the time. She needs a lot of help and Mom and Dad are helping her as much as we can.

We wish she would get well again, but we don't know. We all love her very much. Dad is sad right now.

(And eventually) And if the doctors can't make her well again, she may die and be in heaven with...Grandpa, Uncle George, President Washington..whatever version your tradition supports.


That's about what we are doing with our grandkids...though we are not to the last sentence yet...

Another "exciting" evening in our household! Husband went to park with our son to play basketball (which is within walking distance at the end of our street). While they were gone, I took a minute to listen to the SILENCE. Then, walked out to the car to get some stuff I had left in the car, heard the sirens from the fire station and thought to myself, wow, that sounds close. Went inside, and I had a phone call......it was one of the fireman telling me husband had an accident at the park, they have taken him by ambulance to the hospital, they have my son with them there. I have never driven so fast down my street!! Son was fine, was such a trooper. Husband was stupid enough (sorry, I am still pretty angry with him over his behavior as of late, and still trying to find someplace for him to go), to try to get up on top of the playground slide, etc with my son, and he fell 9 feet and landed on his head!!! He's home...nothing broken, but does have a concussion, etc. I told them under NO circumstances were they to send him home with any narcotic pain meds....they gave him a muscle relaxer, and I told him if he even thought about trying to find where I hid them, he would not have time to think before I put him on the street! So, will be an interesting weekend around here!

Mer-sounds like you will be busy this weekend. Take time for YOU.

ENT agrees with previous dx of atypical meunieres. Says this might be migraine...which previous ENT had suggested too. I feel worse today. Going to DR took everything out of me. Have been just sleeping. Light from computer hurts and makes me squint. ENT is working with PCP to get me some migraine meds to try...but I have heard they have awful side effects.

Dang, just want some peace.

Gosh, Mer, you can't get a break! It's bad when you can't even enjoy your few moments without having to worry about what's going to happen when they're away from you....Hope it all works out ok! And I hope your son is ok with everything too....But I bet he knows Mama is the rock and as long as you're there, he'll be ok.........

Out of the mouths of babes!  It not safe to go alone with Dad.  What a sad thing to learn at such an age.  My heart goes out to all of you.

Good he wasn't hurt, but hopefully it was a wake up call.

We are having a quiet weekend, more quiet than at your house.  My hubby is exhausted and sleeping a lot again. He had improved a lot, MELD score down, but I could bet that it is rising bit by bit with how tired he is acting.  Worn down.

He asked me this week if I thought he was dying? 

Yup, if he doesn't get a transplant, he IS...but I just told him the AA thing...there is a higher power working on that decision.  It will play out like it supposed to play out. Sad.

Mer, I don't know how you are doing it. I barely get the beds made and him to his appointments (he isn't supposed to drive any more) and mine. We are retired, but used to be VERY active in our new area. I was President of our Board of Directors for a 3000 acre development with 5000 residents! And now...day by day. Step by step. Good luck on your tests. Good to get all the credentials you can in this difficult job environment these days! ML

I'm sorry too Sandi. I know it's hard to believe...I can't imagine.....And I just want you to know that I appreciate all the words of wisdom you have given us here...Out of somthing bad always comes something good....and the good we have certainly been blessed with by having you here!
