We are having Easter at our house. We have had a lot of company. My daughter, son in law and 2 grandkids were here for 5 days. Now his daughter, son in law and 3 grands are here.
The kids are all little so there is a lot of love, fun, and fussin' going on here.
Pop Pop (Mike) is doing as well as he can, but he is one tired camper right now. The guests have gone to the ocean this afternoon and Mike is sound asleep. He isn't DOING anything special, but the household is different....kids have been into everything...there are barbies in the living room, puzzels on the kitchen table, pool toys everywhere, wet towels drying over all the lawn furniture, laundry in several stages piled up for folding or washing, etc. -- the norm for when 7 folks live in a tiny cinderblock Florida house. The dishes from the last meal are washed but not put away, the ingredients for the next are piled in the fridge. Nope, not quite the same as when granny and grandad have thier neat, old people routine!
Mike will miss them so much when they head on home. On the dresser by his bed he has 20 or so framed photos of the grandchildren... watching over him.
He is sorry to be feeling so tired as he isn't up to DOING any of the things he always has done with them...ride bikes, go fishing, play Sorry and Checkers, go to kid movies. NOPE. He is too tired even to go see HOP.
Sad. But he did get up to watch the Egg Hunt we organized for 5 year old Ella in the yard this morning!
His eyes are sunk in his face today. He says he doesn't want to go to the hospital while they are here. And he doesn't want to scare them. So, he stays mostly in the bedroom.
They ask if he is going to die. And I answer truthfully. I don't think he will die, today.
