off topic... need prayers... job search

since Mike died... I moved and been struggling with getting a good permanent job... also Ive decided to go back into either machine shop work or construction and get out of the group home work...anyways...
the machine shop that I have wanted to work at for years and could never get an interview at... interviewed me today... are gonna offer me a job... have to pass physical.... etc... and while I know I can build up the endurance... Ive been so sedentary between the group home job... and caring for Mike... Im just praying to pass this test... course... if I have anything to do with it Ill do mind over matter... I have no clue... what it will be... but Ill do my best... I do have another job offer... but its only part time... this one is 4 dollars more an hour and is the job Ive wanted forever... so prayers would be helpful... thank you... or kharma... or positive thoughts or whatever... hummm hmmm ok... all together... wellness thoughts.. humming along... cool.. now Ill be good... just had to put this down somewhere... and sorry Im off topic..but hey u guys kinda been through this all the way... and now this truly is the other side of treatment ... recuperating on going on with life.. and back to what I do best... thanks guys Sandi

Im almost afraid to hope... I havent been even able to get an interview... I worked at this machine shop through the temp agency but they refused to hire any of the temps... listen I worked day labor... and we had some pretty tough characters there.... so I decided to focus on my farm background and downplay the temp agency thing... and Ive had other work experience since... but Ive waited three plus years now... these machines make this old farm girl's heart go a twitter... almost like standing next to a Harley or down the street from a Harley... and the big 800 ton machines are so wonderful... I love em... I am holding my breath... just holding my breath... want to pass that test... oh God don't fail me now.. Sandi

Sandi, you got through Mike's journey.......You can do anything!!!!! Think positive. They will be lucky to have you as an employee. Lot's of thoughts and prayers......

This will turn out how it is supposed to turn out. You have done everything you needed to do to get to the starting line. These days, with so many folks believing in different things I ask folk to pray, play tambourines, or bray at the moon...whatever sends positive energy to the problem at hand!

thanks so much... I think Im more afraid than I need to be... but this came out of nowhere... I went online for the zillionth time and applied... but they havent had any work for years... so... I start next Thursday... the physical and all that is the next week.... I just have to get psyched... and hey that does give me a week to start limbering up... and I just got to thinking I have been doing very physical work the past few months... at the treatment center... doing all the cooking... very physical... maybe just getting too scared... Im gonna strap on my mojos... and pass that test... whatever I have to do... mind over that matter... thank you so much for the help... I was letting it worry me too much.. yep I think big mouth here talks to others about panicking.... I have been doing physical work for the past six months... forgot about that... the last three I hadnt... I think Ill be fine... just getting the mind ready mentally... and found out they are going to start me next Thursday.... then and put me on the schedule first then... do the appointments.. these guys have parts that need running and they know I an run their machines... I worked their out of the temp agency before... and the day manager remembers me...anyways... I just want the chance to get back in front of those machines... and do my thing... so yep I need to just breathe... thanks for all the help... I needed it... this really came out of nowhere.... oooohhh, good one! that got me to smile today!

OMG.... I went to machine shop boot camp today... unbelievable... now thank God that I did mechanical drafting in school... but Gheez... we were given 10 minutes of instruction and then a 20 minute test on blue prints... and I can read a blue print I just cant tell you all the frickin technical names...well I bluffed it... math wasnt too hard... but I panicked so badly I read one question wrong which was really 5 and would have flunked me... I was looking at the wrong stupid part... well I got that figured out...Im tested out... then had to use micrometer... and measurement tools... well... I got that part pretty well... but I felt like it was Special Ed... Sandi time... oh well I got 5 wrong total... and 96% after all that fuss and whining..as I was walking out to the parking lot... the young gal says that I have to do sit ups on Tuesday...I almost sat down and cried... I said Lord... Lord.. Lord... u walk on water... guess ur gonna have to help me do those sit ups... so thats the scoop of the day... I passed... I passed...and on to the next torture... although I do get to start on Sunday night on the night shift... only 1 girl out of 13 new workers and that was old lady me... omg... Sandia

Sandi,
Start doing some push ups every day, until the day before. Then do a couple that morning. Not that you'll be totally in shape, but using the right muscles and learning how best to perform them will help. Doing a couple the morning of, gets you loosened up for the real thing. Also, if you're out of shape, doing them quickly works better than letting the burn catch up to you.
