Elle,

My Dad was afraid to sleep for the certainty he would die if he did.

Maybe hubby needs to be reassured...either that he's gonna be okay, or that you give him permission to pass if that is what he needs to do...that you will be sad, but will be okay. Maybe he knows something....

Or is it possible he is waiting for someone to come to see him? Another relative who has not made the trip and he wishes they would? Or does he need a visit with a clergyman he has not contacted in a long time, but needs to now?

This is all very gloomy, and I'm sorry...but...the Lord works in mysterious ways.

I let doctors know its been that long but they wont give him anything ..his best friend visited and his sister is here now ..his mom still hasn't come and she has no plans to pretty sad. I told him everything will be alright ..just get some rest ..I've tried rubbing hair ..playing soft music but nothing has helped ..the liver doc did ask who were the new people visiting in the room and she ask what about his mom and I said she's not coming and she asked she doesn't travel ..I replied not really ..and she asked does he have anymore family and I said no and she said ok ...I worried with That is this really the end an they just don't want to tell me ....they are waiting on infection to go away but quite frankly I don't know if he can hang on that long .....

Elle, this sounds pretty dire to me. How sad for his Mom...sad for him too. But what is in the past is in the past. How are you holding up? Holding his hand and playing soft music sounds like a good plan. Many hugs, Carol

Thanks Carol and Emma ...I'm hanging in there ..We have been through so much in the past five months ...you almost get blinded to what is actually going on ..but this time I'm really worried ...I'm hoping tomorrow will bring better things or news to what going on!

I'm praying for you today! If you can do nothing else, tell him you love him ever chance you get just in case something does happen. Prayers going up for his recovery and for your strength!!

Thanks guys he is talking a little more today ..but sleeping alot today to catch up on sleep ...tomorrow is his 40 th birthday .....hopefully tomorrow will be more progress

Elle, I am just now catching up on all this!

Praying he will get some sleep!! I truly think the more he sleeps, the better he will be come.

Hoping you are taking care of yourself through all of this!!

Elle, that's good news. Poor guy having to spend his 40th in the hospital is no fun, though. But it's what's necessary. Both of you keep hanging tight.

Thanks mer and Connie .....hanging in there is What I do best these days ......they did cat scan of pretty much his whole body ..nothing out the ordinary besides

Three spots in his bowel area looks upstructed ..which doc said was weird since he isn't having signs of That they will keep a eye on it because doing any surgery on him at this point is a 50/50 chance of survival .......will give a update tomorrow

Upate they are going to do a test that will check his heart valves to make sure infection hasnt set shop there. Eye doc came today and no infection in his eyes but early stage of something to do with his diabetes thatv we will have to take care of later ...surgeons said they will keep a eye on his bowel situation but surgery is to dangerous right now ...his meld score is 39 today ..Happy birthday huh....but liver doc is Happy with his progress ..he was in a totally different place two weeks ago ..a not good place!!! He slept most of the day and they will have to give him some sedation for test tomorrow ..so it will be a sleepy day I'm sure again ..will update tomorrow

Things are sounding better for him. His score being that high is actually good in terms of transplant. They just have to make sure he's in the best possible shape for it.

Thanks for keeping us updated! While he is sleeping, you try to nap, too.

I try napping but there was 6 different types of doctors that came in, I would rest my head and start to fall asleep ....they wake u ......unfortunately ccu and icu not much rest for me ..I have trouble sleeping with light ..noise. ect ..but I've been going home to sleep at night lately ; to get a Good night sleep. Thanks for letting me know about the pencil ..never noticed it til now. Yes I'm sure he will be at top of list once he is well enough!

Elle, I'm very glad to hear that you are going home at night to sleep. This whole ordeal can be as wearing on you as it is on him. Are you eating decently?

The hospital actually has healthy food .I'm a really picky eater but I think I'm eating better than ever ..even the vending machine have healthy snacks! The hospital has a hotel connected to it That also has a gym. The nurse told me its free to work out I just have to register .....Its really a big hospital It has gift shop, barber shop, optical shop, coffee shop, a cafeteria, a nicer grill and a really big atrium that you can just go in relax. Sometimes I feel like I'm in a mini airport ..

Elle, that sounds like a plush hospital! It's good that they have healthful food. At the dietary portion of my transplant evaluation (a class with others), we were told that just because the cafeteria is in a hospital doesn't necessarily mean it has healthful food. I know they have fries, pizza, burgers, etc. I stick with scrambled eggs and coffee in the morning and vegetable soup in the afternoon.

Well it helps that its a bigger nice hospital ..since I've spent the last 5 months here. My husband's meld score is 39 now. We saw liver surgeon today and they are happy with his progress . Said he is at the top of the list for the hospital we are at ..but if liver is available in our region and there is someone in life threatening situation then that hospital gets liver ...well that's what surgeon said ..so he said it should be very soon and he will get transplant ...because he has only been on dialysis for two weeks he doesn't qualify for kidneys because he would need to be for 6 weeks and liver doc said there Is no way he can wait that long. So we are hoping kidney will bounce back or later he can get a kidney or have to do dialysis ...al was back almost to his normal self. Today ....today was a very good day ;) so excited for his new chance at life .....hopefully he stays well enough and they get a liver soon smilewinkgrin
