 Hi everyone

just a quick question...has anyone with ESLDever exerienced problems with their vision.

My dad has developed a worrying symptom...night blindness!..his doctor is saying that he doesnt think that it is related to his esld but i have read that lack of vitamin K, which is associated with the liver can cause nigt blindness.

Once the light starts to fade he becomes completely blind and cannot see anything, this has led to him having two serious falls...he is due to see the opthalmologist but i was wondering if anyone has suffered from this or knows anyone who has had this due to esld.

sorry to be a pain...but getting clear answers to anything at the moment seems impossible!

I did some google searches on night blindness and ESLD and find several articles about vitamin deficiencies.

We have not dealt with this symptom on the sight...there is a search feature on the blue menu line before these posts. My Mike has not had this symptom.

The docs pretty much want the patients to avoid supplements without their blessing, as some products are not well compounded, etc. So if you hit on a stragegy that makes sense to you, I would be sure to check with his docs to be sure there are no counter indications with diuretics or blood pressure meds, etc. These patients are very fragile and can get their meds all messed up in an instant.

I am sorry to hear he is having this new problems. So many things go wrong. Keep posting and I'm sure others will be along soon to post.

My hubby has ESLD and although he has not been dx with night blindness, he had quit driving at night last year as he said he could see well enough.  I though maybe he needed new glasses, but eye Dr. said his sight had not changed.  Still feels like he can't see well at all at night.
