I was hospitalized locally again last Fri-Monday for a low grade fever. They gave me iv zosyn to break the fever. Blood and urine cultures were negative for infection. While at the hospital, my blood labs showed low WBC, low RBC, low platelets, and hemoglobin. The local docs gave me a shot of NeuPogen to deal with the WBC, but my platelets fell to an all time low of 25,000. My normal range is in the 50,000's. My hemoglobin dropped from 13.6 to 10. I faxed the labs to My hep doc, but he is not sure what is going on. I am not on any new meds. I had zosyn before during a previous hospitalization and had no reaction to it.

My Hep has referred me to one of the hematologists affiliated with
the transplant center. I see him on the 21st of November.

Hi Susie,
Sorry about the recent blood issues. Have you had this before? Anything you have to be watchful for between now and the 21st? Glad that the fever is gone and there was no infection.

Susie, Glad they gave you the shot...those Neupogen shots really make you feel better! Keep us posted on how you feel. Carol

I found out ten days ago during another er visit that my WBC was under its normal range of 2-4. It was 1.0! But it had rebounded to 2.5 prior to my hospitalization. Then, it plunged back down to 1-1.5 until they gave me a shot of Neupogen. I have to wear a mask in public and follow a neutropenic diet. My platelets have been consistently in the 50,000's all year. My hemoglobin has also been consistently around 12-13.

I always go to the ER if my temp goes over 100.5 because of my past problems with UTI's. One time several years ago, I did not catch it early and developed urosepsis. Not fun! A week in the ICU.

Hopefully, they will
able to figure out what is going on with me.

My husband has has problem similar his platelets actually went down to 7,000 at one point ....really scary and his hemoglobin stays at around 7/8 ....they did diagnose him with auto immune hemolytic annemia ....transfusions and steroids were no longer helping and they had to do chemo ...which that made him go in a down ward spiral ...but he hasn't had as many issues with his blood condition lately .knock on wood
