freaked out about passing on hep c

this is a post from the anxiety forum but i wanted to put it up here as well. I'm pretty sure I'm overreacting but would love some feedback.

thanks cat. I just had a horrible scenario occur. As I said my wife is a pilates instructor. I was on the phone with a friend filling him in on my difficulties and my wife comes running into the house and says quick come out there's been an accident. One of the springs slipped off and hit her 7 month pregnant client in the eye. Of course as you said I probably got another shot of Cortisol and thought how can i help. but it did and calmed everyone down. But then my wife handed me a tube of neosporin to give her as she was driving off and so I caught her and she put some on her eye. Now here's where the insanity comes in. I have hep c and although i haven't used that tube in several months but I thought oh my god i've given her hep c.
I know it's probably ridiculous but my whole body took it in and now I'm freaked out about that. What the hell is going on in the universe that i need to feel this bad. It really sucks.

If there is any doctors on this forum can you please give and opinion. Like I said I haven't used it in months and even then i tried not to put the actual tip on my cut.

Unless you got fresh blood from yourself, into a cut in her eye, there's no way you transmitted Hep C. It's a blood to blood transfer and it certainly wouldn't have come from an old tube of ointment, or your uncut finger. Stop worrying, but in the future you need to be aware of others, since you have the virus. I always tell lab folks and nurses that I have the disease, right off. Twice I've had to remind lab techs to put on gloves when taking blood from me.

Hi Ziggy, Welcome. I agree with David. Stop worrying. This doesn't sound like any type of exposure to the Hep C virus. My hubby's Dr. always has said "blood to blood" needed for exposure. Relax, but do take precautions and remind health care workers you are Hep C.
