This morning when the doctors came in, Phil was sitting up in the chair eating what was considered breakfast (he is on clear liquids), and when the doctors came in they smiled!!! It was a first for one of them!!LOL!! They have him listed as clear for transplant, and he is next to get the first "O" liver!! Great news!! I'll be bringing my computer to the hospital when the TP happens . . so I can keep ya'all posted!!

great news!!! It was so good to meet yo today and talk awhile. I will be back won and look forward to haveing some more raspberry iced tea with you!!!!

Angie's right. O+ is a very common blood type (I have it, too.) So it could happen very quickly. Great news all around!

Dr.'s smiled again today. MELD listed score is 37 thru Wed. or Thurs. Hopefully he will be transplanted before then. Dr.'s are talking about moving him to the TP floor soon. he is still in CCU right now. He has/had and Elius . .don't know the correct spelling, but it's where the intestines fall asleep and don't expand and contract to move solids thru . . so far, it seems to be gone . . they are going to do Xray and CT Scan in AM to make sure. NG came out today too :) He is real happy about that.

Dr's said today that they want him to have a good liver, not one from a 65 year old!! I'm all for that, but beggers can't be choosy . . I'm leaving that decision up to them!!

Back to the hospital I go!!

The waiting is so difficult. My heart goes out to you both.

Keep us posted.

I get so emotional each time one of our members makes it to the transplant time.

Rethinking what it was like here not so long ago..

  smilewinkgrin    Sounds like Drs are getting excited for your hubby.  That is cool.  It must be quite a feeling for someone to know that they can put a new liver in someone and save their life.  Hope it's soon.

If the docs haven't told you, when a liver becomes available, it's your choice whether to take it or not. Therefore, a less than pristine liver could be rejected by you, if it is old or has other drawbacks. Rejecting one doesn't change ones status on the list and you could wait for a better organ. On the other hand, time may be of the essence, and you take the first available liver.

The doctors want him to have a good young liver :) The ileus seemed to be resolved, and then today he threw up and started having abdominal pain again so . . ??? Tomorrow will tell. They still plan on moving him to the TP floor tomorrow as far as I know. It was a beautiful sunny day today and I walked back to the hotel from the hospital just to get some exercise and breathe some fresh air. A good friend from TX, working in OH came by today and it seemed to give Phil and I both something to think about besides what we are going thru!! It was a really nice dday today!!

Glad to hear you had a good day, Debbie. :-) I hope Phil's problem resolves and that he gets moved to the transplant floor, as planned.

  Thinking of you and Phil.  Glad to hear you got out and smelled the roses...or fresh air.  It's beautiful here in NE, too, but a little snow still on ground.  Hope all falls into place soon.
