Hey there everyone. I hope that everyone is having a peaceful weekend. I have spent alot of time at the hospital. Mom is struggling again. Just feeling lousy. I watched the nurse change the dressing where they drained her. Yuck. It was packed with all kinds of gauze and pink and oozy. But clean looking...so that's good. She has lost a couple of kilos since the drain and has lasix taking off more. So that's good too.

Dougie is doing well. And that makes me HAPPY!

I need to catch up on the other posts.

That's what I was thinking when I saw my mom's wound. Like raw meat...looks painful...and from my mom's noises when the surgeon on call was examining it...it is painful. This guy was a jerk...very rough with her. Her regular docs are very gentle.
I don't know how you have put up with an open wound for all these months. I am praying that your procedure/surgery this week fixes it!

Sorry to hear your Mom is suffering. Connie, good luck on your procedure this week. Hope all goes smoothly for you.

This last week has been difficult for me. Took hubby for a ride in the country Friday and he said, "I wish you had a husband." I though he was joking and said, "I do." He asked me to bring my husband with me next time I come to visit. That broke my heart. I probably should have reminded him he was my husband, but I just couldn't speak. I know that I shouldn't be so hurt...that it is the disease...but it was really hard to hear. I spent the next day sick and crying all day...Boy,,,and I thought I was as strong as they come!! That seemed to hit me hard.

I went to visit last night and took our dog, my hubby knows that I am important to him, but just doesn't seem to realize I'm his wife. He says he is happy and likes helping the other folks in the nursing home, as much as he can. Hard to get started with work this morning.

I am sorry that you had a tough weekend. I can only imagine how much that hurt. For you to be so sick the next day...I thought you were made of steel too...
I hope that you took extra special care of yourself. I hope that your hubby not realizing you are his wife is only temporary and that he remembers again soon.
Be gentle with yourself.

Angie,

This just makes me cry.  It is the saddest post of the week.

He is really fading fast.  Are they giving him Xifaxan?  So sad.  Seeing him so sick, facing death, that is one thing, but like Alzheimer's caregivers, to lose them mentally and emotionally and intellectually is a terrible thing.

Still crying...  And hoping maybe this part is reversable.

Emma, thankfully my open wound has no feeling--most of my abdomen is numb from the transplant.
