Hepatitis B Natural Immunity?

Hi there guys wondered if anyone could assist me with my problem..

Around 4 months ago I started having bad abdominal pains which I thought had something to do with my stomach.. I was admitted to hospital for a week or so because the pains started gradually getting worse.. My body on the upper right hand side used to shake and randomly become very tight and eventually subside, always happens like half an hour after i ate.

The hopsital couldnt figure out what the problem is after having about 20 blood tests and even a colonoscopy and endoscopy.. After about a month I couldnt sleep more than 3-4 hours in one go and still have that same problem to this day.. i had mild fever and a loss of apetitite, i just dont get hungry at all and thats abnormal for me because i usually eat and sleep very well..!! since then the shaking on the upper right side has gone but it still feels very very tender and my skin colour has changed so i look alot paler, also with veins in places on my body i never used to have... i decided to goto the GP but he also couldnt figure out whats wrong...

ive been going through a tough time mentally let alone physically... i felt like i was stuck and still do so about 2 months ago i decided to goto an STD clinic and get tested... everything came back negative for HIV, hep C and the other infections however the doc that gave me my results said I have a natural immunity to hep B, but made it clear that its not a diagnosis.. which really confused me.. saying that in the past i have came into contact with the virus but have developed a natural immunity... he also said on paper its a good result but in another perspective its not due to all the symptoms ive been getting... he told me to go back to my GP

GP said he doesnt get it because there has been no change in my liver function tests over the course of the past few months so hes not sure its the hep b.. but i told him ive never had an immunity to hep B ever before so its obv ive came into contact recently... at the STD clinic i didnt get to look at the name of the test result but im guessing its anti-HBe and not anti-HbsAB? because anti HBsAb is considered a diagnosis result? am i right or wrong?

anyways the GP has decided to run his own hepatitis B test which i will be recieving the results in a few days...

Hello, Calvinq, and welcome to the forum. I'm sorry you are not feeling well and that no one can figure out why. It's very possible to be exposed to hep B and contract the virus, then have the antibody as your immune system kicked it out. But you will always test positive for B. I had the same thing happen to me. When I was tested for hep C, they also tested for B and mononucleosis, due to my symptoms of fatigue. I never knew I had either one of the viruses, but apparently I'd had B and my immune system dealt with it. I was told that I have the antibody and can never get it again. I'm guessing this is what your test revealed...that you have the antibody. It's possible that it could be a recent infection, which is treatable.

Depending on the results of the new tests, you might want to get a referral to a hepatologist.

Don't give up on getting a correct diagnosis.

I can't answer that for you, but I think it's great that you have tested negative due to having the antibody. So your immune system knocked it out.
