I have been on Incivek for 12 weeks now. I experienced diarreah and nausea in the first couple of weeks. I felt like crap. Terrible start for me. The loose stools were draining me. On top of that, I was losing my appetite like crazy. It was hard to continue on Incivek. Moreover, the treatment was expensive.
After a while, there was no diarrhea. Nausea went away. What a relief! Atleast from the blogs that I read, most ppl on Incivek treatment had favorable reviews. They were happy about
their choice of treatment. On the otherhand, some jerks were complaining. My advice for others in similar journey - Be strong and persistent. Command yourself to break free from this dragon.
Towards the end of the tx, I started having these splitting headaches along with rash on the left side of the body. Itchy feeling. One of my friends is experiencing these during the start of tx. Do you guys have any suggestions to get rid of the rashes? Moisturizer? Oatmeal bath?
At the end of 12 weeks, my results turned out to be UD. Finally, I felt so relieved. The tx worked really great for me. I will be continuing to check my VL for atleast a couple of times every year.

Welcome to the Forum Vicky,
We are anxious to hear about
your experience with the treatment.
Thank goodness you were able to rise above the side effects and actually CLEAR the virus in 12 weeks! Congratulations.
Our members will want to know more about
you.
How old you are.
How long you have been infected.
Your Genotype?
Was this your first time on treatment?
Is this a study?
Mike has rashes along the way with treatment and they gave him cholestyramine and that helped....but that may be just for his combination of reactions...his pancreas doesn't work right and he does something odd with bile salts...so that may not help at all.
I am sure others will post here soon, though the weekends are sometimes quieter.
Again, thanks for posting and come often.
Carol

For the rashes and itching I use Medicated Gold Bond lotion on my ESLD hubby and it helps him.

Hi, Vicky, and welcome to the forum! Congratulations on your success with the new treatment. Are you continuing on with the ribavirin and interferon portion? I am looking forward to doing this treatment when I get well enough to tolerate it and can clear up issues with severe edema.
You can do a search above by putting in the term itching. Oatmeal baths and Gold Bond cream help.
Please keep us updated on your progress.
ML, I believe that the Incivek treatment is only for those with genotype 1a or 1b.
Hugs,
Connie
