dougie had his follow up banding today under a general anesthetic...his procedure on last friday was unsuccessful, since under the max sedation, he was pulling at tubes etc. so, anyway, the procedure went well today. the doctor banded 3 varices. not sure if these are others/new ones or if it is rebanding of the ones that were banded a month ago. he is resting well now and has been able to have a smoothie. no barfs and panic like last time! that's a good thing. he will have another follow up endo in a month.
my mom is now in ICU. on a respirator and sedated. she had surgery this morning to reopen her wound to allow for more drainage. she had difficulty afer surgery with fluid retention in the lungs and her blood pressure, so she was sent to ICU instead of her regular room. she has been in the hospital for pancreatitis since feb 21st. 37 days. it is so scary to see her in there. i have never seen an ICU room before. so it was pretty emotional for me and my dad to see her there. the good news is, is that when they took her off sedation she was responsive to her name, could open her eyes, squeeze her hand and wiggle her feet. she also shook her head no when i asked her if she would like me to put her lipstick on...that has been a running joke between us during her entire hospital stay.
so, i am exhausted again. looking forward to the weekend to try and get some extra sleep.
