Well we are still in Pittsburgh,   no sign of us getting out of here.    Hate to say it but John is a "train wreck" right now!!!   Talked to the doctor today, they had a transplant meeting today and said that as soon as friday rolls around we are active again!  Just hope to hear some good news, I dont know how much more bad news I can take, it has been a rough 2 weeks.

Yea...sounds like once he is back on the list...BINGO...liver.  Hope so.

David,   He is on HOLD til friday after the 5th day of the antibiotic.

We are hangin in there, even though it is real hard right now!!

Well, it's almost Friday. Hope the labs are good and he can go back on the list tomorrow. After reading posts here for 20 months, while this case is tough on him and on you, it is not unusual...our liver patients must hang dangerously between being most sick and thus ON DECK for next donor liver AND well enough to endure the surgery. It is a balancing act many have had to endure...and most of them who have complied along the way, make it in the end baring a major catastrophy...stroke, heart attack, etc.

Praying for a positive outcome. Let us hear from you again today.

Me again, Sorry David, I read the post wrong, my eyes see one thing and my mind registers something else, It will be great to get him back active on the list!!!!

Spoke with the transplant infectious disease doc this afternoon, she seemed very positive that we could get him back active either friday or saturday. She was optimistic that once we are discharged we could continue with antibiotics at home for a few more days, which is fine with us...

Our heptatologist was in and again explained to John that it is very important to get this infection cleared up. I just have to keep reminding him of that. He does seem to be a little better today which is good. Hope to get him up in a chair and out for a short walk if he will go along with it. Both of those will help get the fluid moving!!

All I can say is that this roller coaster really sucks!!!!! I know there are others that have had it worse than we have and I am thankful for that but some days you just need to let it out.

I remember speaking to Carol (and Connie) over the months, or a year, while they were waiting for a liver. At the time it didn't look like it might ever happen. Waiting 9 months for a baby is nothing compared to receiving a transplant. Stay calm, good things take time. You'll get there.

focus on you.. doesn't matter what anyone else went through..there experience can teach you but it is no more or less valuable than yours... your roller coaster is a pain... take a deep breath... hold on.. we're praying with you... Sandia

Just an update, doc in today, said that we were past up again due to the infection!!! That one really hurt!!!!! should be back active on Saturday by noon!!!! kidney function is coming back, slowly but coming back. Definitely do not see us going home in the near future....... Thats it for today!!!!

Amy, sometimes I think all the waiting is a test of our patience. In fact, I think that's a lesson for me, as I'm not the most patient person. Thanks for the update! Hang in there!

That is not a good thnk Connie, I am a very impatient person!!!! I normally dont wait for someone to do something, I just go do it because I cant stand waiting!!!!!!

We are hanging in there, just hard. I think the girls are going to come to Pittsburgh on Sunday for fathers day!!!!

That will be good and hard at the same time.

Amy, It was great to talk to you while we were soo close, I only wish I had one more day up there so I could see ya in person!! It sounds like they are keepin him there so he will be well for transplant. Phil was on antibiotics for 7 days before he was transplantable. Your time is coming . . get out of the hospital room take a long walk down fifth and Forbes and enjoy the beautiful weather. hang in there Amy!! Sounds like any day this is going to happen for you guys!!
