Troubling complication after transplant...has anyone had hepatic arterial stenosis?

The book is named "Island Practice." Pam Belluck wrote it, she writes for the NYT. We have ticks year round, though spring is the worst time for picking them up.

David , We still have Piggly Wiggly and IGA grocery stores down here , IGA's slogan is " I'm stick'in with the pig " . Every time I see that bumper sticker on a car it makes me chuckle . I wont comment specifically on why it makes me chuckle though , but needless to say it has something to do with the typical inhabitants of the car . They's sum strange folks round dees parts   .

They still have Cheerwine down there? Or, R oh C coka cola?

 Blenheim is still made in SC , That's the old original southern Ginger ale . Not cheap imitation and made with real Ginger ( Makes your eyes cross it's so zippy ) .

Moonpie has made a big come back with bigger pies and nostalgic packaging .

RC is still out there but not as popular as Cheerwine . We did load certification on the Salisbury distributor equipment years back and got my first taste of it there , Been drinking it every since . It's always reminded me of Cherry Coke .

Carol , We used to have a Store called Pantry Pride ( Groceries ) . I remember my grandmother used to call it Panty Prize ( She never could pronounce it correctly ) and my parents used to snicker uncontrollably when she said it . I was in my teens before I figured out what was so danged funny about that . Carol , You and Connie are still what we refer to as D*** Yankees . Yankee being the annoying ones who vacation here and D*** Yankees who decided to stay .

 I found out there are very few Florida natives when I lived there , It's Southern geographically but has virtually no southern identity so to speak . Most of the natives moved to northern Florida where they are eventually rocketed into fame . Yes , I said fame . Ever look at the site " Smoking Gun " or " Cops " on T.V ? Even rednecks have 15 minutes under the lime lights of fame . Not really !!! Just joking but it's uncanny how if something incredibly stupid goes down it's always got a Florida zip code .

Been wintering in FL for 18 years and have yet to see a Piggly Wiggly or IGA, never heard of a moonpie or cheerwine, must live a sheltered life....maybe all that happens on the east coast where all the crazies live LOL.

Me, I like the west coast where all us older folk reside, not much aggressive driving, no one seems to be in a hurry (unlike Jacksonville where the minute the light turns green they lean on the horn)....not much spring-breaking on this coast :)

BTW Im not dissing Jax, God knows it was a blessing getting the donor liver for my brother and has the distinction of counting a fine gal named Connie amonst its populace :)

Thanks for asking Syxx, he actually had a follow-up ultrasound on Wednesday, nurse and doctor on Thursday at the Mayo, and they cleared him to go back home to Mass....he flew out last nite!

They will follow-up again in 4 months and in the meantime, he can go to Mass General (where he was initially listed) for any emergencies. So hopefully the stent is doing its job for a long time to come.

Of course he will send his labs to Mayo in Jax every week until the follow-up, and even after that I think, in order that they make the proper adjustments to his meds.

Happy for you that your stents made such an improvement, and that is continues :)

Mae, there are lots of older folks in St. Pete/Clearwater and Sarasota. AARP practically runs Sarasota. I love the Gulf Coast, but need to stay close to Mayo.

They will continue blood work forever. I am now having it once a month, at 15 mos. post transplant. Was he having it every day the week after discharge? I'm wondering if they do things differently on out-of-state patients.

Good to hear that Richard is doing well and back home.

I remember visiting my great grandparents in St. Petersberg Beach, back when I was a kid. Noticing that all of the bus stops had benches with ads for funeral homes, I asked my mother about that. She tried to be cool about it, but after I kept asking, she finally admitted that; "This is where a lot of old people go to die." I remember that they touted SPB as having the most shuffleboard courts in the world. They also has 2 baseball teams, by the names Kids and Cubs that played one another. I can't remember, but I think all the players were over 80 or 90.
