Although I'm mostly a browser here, each and every person on this board is so important to me. I follow your stories and the reason I don't post very much is because most times someone else has already asked or answered my concerns. Thank you all for being such amazingly generous people with such forgiving natures.

The most beautiful words posted on the subject was the admission by Connie that she might get carried away from time to time. I remember those times so vividly when I was posting and crying and hurting so deeply. I'm not sure my posts were perfect. I have a tendency to write without paragraphs. I think that was an excellent suggestion. I also remember that it is Connie that helps us keep focus. Doesn't mean I won't speak my mind.

anyways... I have a bird feeder for the first time in my life. I spent part of the morning with Mr. and Mrs. Northern Red Cardinal. I have chickadees, nut thatchers, sparrows, and a couple unidentified birds. The feeder was a present. I also have a copy of the Birds of Wisconsin book. It helps me. I thought only old people bird watch then I realized "oh yeah, I'm old" ... smiles to self... and loves her cardinals..

Come back often people we are a community and we need each other before, during, and after along this trail of liver disease.

Well said Sandia.

Connie does a great job on here and is very helpful and knowledgeable, all the while going through her own personal hell, and mostly by herself. I'd like to see this all put behind us and get back to the matters at hand.

Aren't birds great to watch? I wonder, do you have any purple martins in your area?
We are purple martin landlords and have a dozen gourds hanging out by my lanai. They are usually back from South America by now, and I have seen a couple of "scouts", but none have taken up residence here yet this year as they have in the past 7 yrs or so. Guess it's the cold weather.

They are beautiful birds and have a lovely sing-songy chatter about them.

In Cape Cod we house hummingbirds, another great species to watch up close and personal :)

Jealous... NO I don't think we do. This summer we should have more birds. I was reading online about the change in migratory patterns due to global warming and the eventual extinction of some of these birds. Wow. Purple Marlins. I'll have to look. The Cardinals have been shy for months and now all of a sudden they are eating like crazy. They have been here three times today. Well, I may have more than one pair. The big guy gets up there and struts his stuff first then the Mrs. Cardinal gets to eat. Omg!!

Our weather has been crazy here,so not many birds to see. But I did hear a flock of geese fly overhead the other day,is Spring really coming this year?

I have at least a dozen Cardinals every day, plus several Bluejays, Chickadees and Sparrows. In the spring, there will be Red Wing Blackbirds and Catbirds. Every few weeks, there's a Sharp Shinned Hawk that cruises in for a feathered meal. I also have one of those suet blocks, that the Cardinals like as do the Woodpeckers.

Love to watch all birds, sounds like we have quite a variety here. One thing about the purple martins, (members of the swallow family), they take all their food on the wing, they eat tons of insects, live ones at that. They particularly like damsel flies, dragonflies, etc.

Native Americans used hollowed-out gourds to house them back in the day. Currently they have come to rely almost solely on man-made housing. Our gourds are commercial ones made from plastic as most of them are now. Many folks use condo-style or motel-style housing too. They're a sociable species, we usually get 6 -8 pair each year.

Starlings, house sparrows and hawks are the enemy and we are very protective of our little friends. But hubby actually cut a hole in our BRAND new lanai screen, so that he could fit the tip of a bb gun through!

MEN! Can't live with 'em....can't shoot 'em!

Robin, hang in there. Spring IS coming :)

Sandia, look on youtube for purple martins, they're awesome.

David, I must try the suet block next time at the Cape. Would love to attract cardinals and woodpeckers.

Connie, I would like to apologize for striking out at you. It was a bad day and you just happened to be there at the wrong time with something negative for me to use as a puching bag. I have carried this around for long enough and don't wish to carry it any longer. I usually take to constructive criticism better that I did that day.

Arneeb, I chose my user name because I thought I was among many that could help, among many that could share their compassion and insight because they have been there, done that. It is not a condition, it is a state of being a grieving individual mourning the loss of a loved one that is about to die. One which I am in the same boat among many that endure this sadness daily as well.

I truely appreciate all the help, all the positive replies and even the ones that I didn't want to read. My brother's condition is one that needs no more posts now. Only prayers will help at this point. I can't say I will never need any of you again for I will always need good friends.

I have been wearing my heart on my sleeve lately. And actually I appreciate the lesson in making a post look good. If only that could work in the situations at hand. I have been working hard on them. I see much improvement where is was needed.

I can't guarantee that through tears and turmoil they will continue to be so. But until then I like my posts much better!!! Thanks for the lesson Connie!! For real!!!
