I have a problem with right side rib cage pain, am not able to find the exact cause of the pain. I had a hospitalization 2 years back due low platelet count, doctor suggested that could be either dengue or malaria, he had treated for malaria. Ever since that by one month i started having a swollen feeling in right side of abdomen under the liver, I had several blood tests done to identify the cause but my LFT was in variation and the doctor prescribed me medication for fatty liver, but the problem got into a vulgar stage now, now am having a pain under my liver area and it comes to the rib sometime, the pain is horrible. As of now am having treatment with a homeopath and he states it is gas trouble, also he insists not to worry at all but the problem remains the same, "pain". Don't know how to get rid of it. I have done CT scan too to find the cause but everything is normal in that too, also had several blood test till now, LFT seems to be normal now but the bilirubin has a higher count so far. Can someone suggest on this, what further step I should take to eradicate the issue?

Hi, Harry, and welcome to the forum. We are not doctors and cannot diagnose your problem. However, I am thinking that it might be a gall bladder issue, such as stones. You need to get an appt. with a GI doc or hepatologist. You could have autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) or another autoimmune disease. In order to get the proper testing, you should see a specialist. If you drink alcohol, stop and see if the pain resolves.
Hugs,
Connie

You might have your doc check blood for babesiosis. Tick borne disease, very similar to malaria and is treated with the same drugs.

Thanks you for yours replies, I use to be occasional drinker as well as do smoke when i drink, from the time i have got into this unknown disease i havnt had drinks and smoke i.e from more than 2 years. However with respect to doctors, even the homeopath says its problem with gas. Could it be so? if so could that be such horrible pain, or am i having a serious disease that is not getting detected now and can come in a huge trouble after sometime? i am so worried about
this. In matter of time i have gone through many forum as well many blogs and the only thing finishes in big diseases i.e cancer etc. Let me know a set of diagnostic process which can identify the cause.

Harry
We aren't doctors
You need a good one who will give you a good going over
Liver, pancreas, gall bladder, bile ducts, muscle tear ... who knows. I hope you find one

I had visited a gastroenterologist a MD but even he said noting to worry about
it, he too mentioned it is because of hypertension you are having the issue its like IBR. That didnt worked for me and i had to approach the homeopath, i feel some kind of faith in him as his medicines have given lot of relief. I am able to get out of the weakness at least, but the pain is still a obstacle. I will find some another doctor too as you mentioned. Let me know what all things i should ask him to do to recognize the cause. Thanks.

There are meds that lessen gas. Try those. Beano is one of them.

try to drink hot water as hot as your tea or coffee , and drink sip by sip, daily have an exercise which relives you pain. and have light food. dont sleep immediately after having food and have sip of hot water while sleeping and early morning. do regular exercise. dont have heavy food at single time, eat regularly. try this if it works it is ok other wise meet doctor immediately. i also came across with same problem.
i suffered this problem for almost 3 weeks i went to doctor for thrice and he checked told me there is no gallstones and he told problem is due to gerd. for me it is relieved

If it is gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), there are special medications for that, such as Nexium and Omeprezole. See a GI doc for these prescript
ions.
And yes, this is an old thread.
