Hepatic encephalopathy, is this it?

My husband was diagnosed 1 1/2 years ago with acute alcoholic hepatitis. I did not associate things earlier, though they mattered enough to even talk to my therapist about it. In last 7 years or so, my husband went through times when he was incredibly belligerent at different times, unprovoked out of no where. His usual self is pretty together. He also had weird periods of talking..backwards. By this I mean he would often say the opposite of what he meant, specifically in the words he used. After he was diagnosed AAH he quit drinking. Over time his belligerence has lessened and only occasionally does he mix up word meanings. I did not connect it to any disease, but I did find it more strange than angering. Now that I know he has this AAH is this a possible sign of EH? I know he won't agree with me, but often I had thought about recording him so he could see how hateful and nasty he talked at times over simple things, examp. In an attempt to tell him I drove Jacob Dylan,I made the reference as to. "you know, Bob Dylans son". And he went nuts over thinking I could insult him by asking him that...it was weird and he made a fool of himself.
