ME!! I had it! I would never complain about
it! They go through the jug on the right side (more direct route to the liver). I was fully awake. They gave me some kind sedative, I'm sorry but it was one of those days where I wasn't paying attention but I want to say it was fentanyl. I had waited all day for my biopsy because they were infusing plasma (4 bags) since my clotting factors were all off. I was finally hungry as I had started pred the night before and started feeling more human again...so all I wanted was dinner (some friends were bringing me a huge carne asada burrito after the procedure
). So they numbed my neck with lidocaine, injected some drug in my IV and after prepping my neck, asked if I wanted more sedative. I said "No way, my dinner is on its way!" They made an extremely small incision over my jug and ran a catheter into the liver. I did feel a couple of bites from the inside and made a comment (to which, of course, the tech replied..."no you can't feel that"...uh, sure, OK, I must have made that up at exactly the same time you took the samples...ummm hummm!)
Anywho, they pulled everything out, put a bandaid on my neck and sent me back to my room. The only reason I stayed in hospital was because I had been so sick so they wanted me under obs. They rushed my results and I had them in the morning. Since I had been responding so well to the pred, they let me go so I could make it to my daughter's play at school that night. Normally, after a transjugular biopsy, you don't have to hang around as long as after a percutaneous. I had no restrictions afterwards either.
