Susie was transplanted at Northwestern this morning and is recovering - her husband.

Well this is the best news of the day!

Hoping for a speedy recovery.

Wonderful! Terrific news! Please don't be a stranger. As Carol said, if you have questions or concerns, let us know, although I'm sure she has a wonderful team you can ask questions of, also. Please take care of yourself and keep us updated.

Oh what wonderfully fantastic news! Please keep us updated (when you can, of course!). I am so very happy for you guys. I honestly get teary-eyed whenever I hear of another successful transplant! And this was one of those days when such good news was just what I needed to hear. Like others have said, please come to us with any questions/concerns you may have - there is a wealth of information to be found from the great people on this forum. None of us are doctors, but every single one of us has real-life experience - with varied diagnoses, pre/post-transplant, medications, symptoms, side-effects, etc - and from both patients and caregivers. Just consider us as your 'One-Stop Quick Mart for All Things Liver-Related'!

Please give Susie our best and tell her we are thinking of her - and can't wait to hear from her! And please remember to take care of YOU! Get plenty of rest. Susie has great doctors and nurses taking care of her now - it's when she gets home that your 'job' begins! Have a peaceful day, Susie's hubby!

Update for Susie, I am right here with Susie she is watching General Hospital as she is a soap fan. She is off the ventilator and hopes to be transferred from ICU to the liver medical floor this afternoon or tomorrow. They are pulling tubes from her and the new liver is doing it's job. She hasn't looked this healthy in a very long time. Hubbie

Oh, this is just so danged wonderful!! 

To Hubbie....I am so very happy for you and your Susie. I have followed Susie since I got on the board and was so excited when she was at the top of the list. A real champion in this long road to transplant. It gives us so much hope for the future. Please let your Susie know how much of an inspiration her story is to me and my husband. And as a fellow spouse/caregiver....I hope the years ahead will bring you both, much joy and peace. Love to you and your Susie....and big hugs to you both, themiz

Some recent complications-- hemoglobin dropped to 8 so I am getting 2 units of blood tonite. I have to lay in bed as I feel my water weight extending into my abdomen. They say this is normal but I never had acsites- so it is NEW to me. They will transfuse 20 mg of furosemide to help my discomfort. Then I plan to walk around unit again. I have only peed once since foley was taken out at 2 pm central time . It is now 9:45 pm central time .

I swelled up, as well. They emphasized walking. You will hit a few bumps here and there. Don't let them discourage you. Your body has to adjust.

So happy for you Susie!!! Such a blessing. Wishing you a speedy recovery. There are lots of bumps and you will have your good days and bad days, but so well worth the new and exciting life you will have.

Susie don't get discouraged, these bumps in the road often work themselves out over time. Remember that this liver is relearning 600+ functions in this "new" environment we call Susie :)

It takes a while to pee after they remove the catheter.

The first thing I noticed when Richard had is transplant was his cath bag with normal light yellow urine, never saw that before with him, and I said "yay!" Kinda reminded of my potty training days with my younguns. We celebrated each "success". :)
