Luckily I was asleep when I fell down....

Have a nasty ear infection so drove the 60 miles to Mass General's Eye and Ear Institute yesterday for treatment. On the way home I fell asleep a few times while driving (lucky there) but when I pulled over I couldn't fall asleep. Then I got home to find we had company, 2 of my brothers visiting with hubby so by the time I got to bed it was late, then COULD'NT sleep...grrrr

So I did what any other self-respecting, coffee-loving insomniac would do.....made a pot of decaf. But while I leaned against the sink waiting for it to brew, I woke up on the floor making enough noise to wake hubby and possibly cracking some neighboring foundations and windows in the process.

Good thing I was asleep when I fell or I may have re-fractured my arm by using it to stop my fall :) I've fallen asleep whilst leaning before but this is the first time I fell.

Anyone ever have this happen?

Nope, it's only you, Mae. LOL Not so funny, really, as you could have re-injured your arm. My falls have been out of bed. One of them further injured my L3 fracture. Please be careful!

Mae,

Your husband needs you in one piece.

Richard needs you in one piece.

The rest of your family needs you in one piece.

So...caregiver lady...you need to find a way to relax, sleep regularly, or else...

And this forum would be the worse for your not being available to provide support and information.

Time to take stock...do what needs to be done...take care of yourself for a while...enjoy what's left of the wonderful Cape weather in August and September...you'll be down here in FLA soon enough.

Worried about YOU this time.

Okay ladies, promise to try and sleep better :)

Carol, funny you should say that, my sister said the very same thing. They got a little taste of my being incapacitated and I guess it gave them pause LoL.

Yes and other than today, love the weather lately. We had a nice cousins' picnic by the Cape Cod Canal and it was such fun.

Thank God you are okay !
I have fallen asleep while driving,no accidents ever,TG,but now I know to pull over.Cannot say I ever fell down from standing because of falling asleep,that is a new one . Get some rest !

Yes Robin I will try. Next time you get tired at the wheel, pull over and close your eyes. Even if you can't sleep, it does help I find.

When doing the Mass-FL run alone, I try to pull off into a state police barracks or a well-lit plaza. Then I walk around a bit too.
