Last day on Incivek

I'm looking for some advice. I started Incevik triple therapy Sept 6, 2013. I have had a rough go of it, but been undetectable since my 4th week and am on my 22nd week now. I have had a lot of pain and ended up in er last week. They ran a cat scan and found I have 3 kidney stones...huge kidney stones...19mm, 8mm, and 6mm all in my left kidney. They also found a 4.5cm ovarian cyst. I go to the ob gyn for that on march 5th and today I went to the urologist for my kidney. I am in a lot of pain from the stones let alone the treatment. They scheduled surgery for me today on Feb 19th. They will put a tube in my kidney through my back and drain it, then go in and take out all of the stones. I will have to stay in hospital overnight and next day they will check to see if they got it all and if my kidney is working ok. The tube may have to stay in for a day or two or up to 2 weeks. My last shot is Feb 14th and my liver specialist says he wants me to finish the treatment and I should be ok. I get sick on a daily basis throwing up and can't hardly keep anything down for most of this treatment. Been off work for past 4 months and it's been bad! My family thinks I should stop treatment now and not do the last 2 shots so I am a little bit better and stronger for this open surgery? I don't know what to do...been on treatment and dealt with all of this so long and want to finish it, but am scared to be weak for this surgery and not heal right. But I also don't want to risk not taking the last two shots and it making a difference. Liver Dr. said I need to do shots, but I'm just so conflicted? Please help with any advice...Thank you

I agree with David, take the final doses of the treatment. I have had ovarian cysts resolve on their own. If the docs think you can do the final treatment on the 14th and have the kidney procedure on the 19th, I'd do that.

Can they medicate you better in the meantime?

You are so close to the finish line and have cleared the virus....that is the most important thing in your life just now!

I pray to have that news to share with our members for Mike in the near future. Hep C is ruining his nice new liver at a rapid rate!

hi Mindav, i too did the incivek tx. it is very difficult. i had kidney failure in my 3rd week. i spent 2 days in the hospital getting them fixed. during this time my GI and hospital dr discussed ending tx. I finished my 24 weeks and then was asked to do another 24 weeks of int/rib, just to be sure. it was the right call, and i applaud my team for getting me to SVR.

please let your dr. sort this out. My team also put me on a anti depressant to help with my anxiety. only trust your medical team with a decision like this.

Thank you everyone for all of your advice! It truly means a lot! I finally gave in and am taking hydrocodone for the pain and it is helping a bit. Dr. says my immune system will not be any stronger in 2 months or more from now and I'm not stopping the treatment! I do have to have the surgery on 19th though because the stones are growing fast and need to come out before they cause damage to my kidney or worse problems. I will have to take something for nausea soon because I cannot get sick with tube in kidney. But I can do this! I'm going to dig deeper and make it through this! My mother is so upset and worried and I completely understand but she is not supporting me in this and it's hard and it means a lot to me to hear you all say your kind words!! THank you so much!
