Driving to my sister's Middleboro home Friday night, we were detoured by police and wondered what happened until we saw this:

I wondered if any of you knew Michael Dutra?  Such a shame :(

Oh, how awful! To first go through whatever illness he had that necessitated his liver transplant; then to get through the surgery itself, and recovery; he goes on to battle whatever complications arose last year - only to have his life end by being struck and killed by some coward on the highway. Unbelievable.

I read the article in the Globe. Sounds like a good guy. There have been several hit and run accident in and around Boston of late. This is murder, when a driver hits someone and drives off. I don't know him and he's not on the Boston transplant section in the transplant forum I'm on.

Splash, I think there is a good chance the perp will be caught because a police robo-call went out to 220K homes asking for info on Jeep Cherokee that hit him.  They left parts of the car at the scene.

David, yes this guy was a nurse for Alzheimer patients.  His transplant was in 1991, wow.
