My thoracic fusion surgery is Wednesday at 730am. I have to check in tomorrow. Platelets were mildly low, 130k and INR 1.4, so hep ordered transfusion of FFP and vitamin k night before.

I figured I would wish everyone well, I was told I will be heavily drugged for pain the first few days. So I foresee sleep in my future.

Stay healthy and positive and I will check in when feeling better.

All the best, Sean. At Mayo an INR of 1.4 would be mildly elevated, not low. If you want to be knocked out, I have some Atarax I can give you.

T-minus 6 hours to surgery. I am in hospital getting plasma. They did say I was good to take my pain meds, my PCP said to hold off tonight and let them decide. So my surgeon ordered that up.

I cannot sleep.

Turned into a massive surgery. Doctor said he has never a disc in such bad shape. I will post more when I get home. Waiting for chest to be removed hopefully tomorrow, then homeward bound. Still leaking but he said he expects drainage until tomorrow.

Sean, I hope this surgery offers you some relief. Do you realize we were inpatient at the same time?

I'm guessing you meant you were having your chest tube removed.

Hope to hear from surgeon about chest tube soon. Even if it comes out I stuck until tomorrow.

Must be some good drugs there, Sean, having your chest removed and you being stuck and all :)

Hep was right, typo on my sentence. I meant chest tube. Between all, grogginess Antilles it is hard to keep things straight.

Getting that tube out of my chest was great. I have some pictures of incision I will post later. It adds up to nearly 2 feet.

A scar like that is called "A badge of Honor." My transplant scar is relatively small, 13 inches.

Sean, get well soon!! It amazes me how quickly people recover from serious surgery. A reminder our bodies are pretty amazing, after all.

Like Connie said, hopefully the repair will provide some relief.

Mine is not a Mercedes, it's "L" shaped, so no vertical scar. My surgeon is extremely neat. I'll send you a picture.

David, yours looks better than Richard's, that's for sure, LOL, but I haven't seen MamaLama's superhero's scar yet :)
