Is it possible to still have elevated liver enzymes after clearing Hep B?

Just got my lab results back. Every time I have gone to the doctor's office, I get it back and he usually leaves a note "Still Hep B positive". However, this time... it did not say it :) (this past visit, he said I was HepE-antigen negative and Antibodies were positive)

So my question is pretty much in the subject, especially since the liver enzymes went up a little bit since last test (AST is at 47, ALT is at 105)

FYI, I also had a very low Vitamin D levels (big time) and low testosterone, both are fixable of course..

P.S.
Now up in the air about that liver ultrasound, especially since all other levels are within normal range.

are the antibodies to the "E" antigen, or to the surface antigen(hbsag)? is hbsag positive or negative? can you get the full lab report.

Sorry, I don't really know but it is the antibodies to the E antigen (So e-Antigen negative and E-Antibodies positive). This is all I know. I cannot get a hold of the full lab report.

FYI because of the LFT flare up, which I believe is contributed due to me having 3-4 drinks in between tests (3 months time), I am opting for the Ultrasound anyway which I'll be getting done tomorrow and will pray it comes back normal.

Do these results mean you no longer have the hepatitis B virus? Your body was (thankfully) able to fight it off...that's awesome!!!

I think its a good idea that your still going to get the ultrasound. One less thing to worry about.

Sounds like this story has a happy ending :-)

this does not show you have passed the virus. ask tomorrow when you go for imaging.

Ok so here's the story -- called the doctor on Friday to find out 2 things. If there was anything he could prescribe me and what my Hep B status was. Got a call back from the office telling me "Doctor says there is nothing you can Take for Low T and he didn't do the Hep B panel this time, he said he will do it next time around".

I'm guessing he's treating it as an acute infection, as he told me that is what I had, and just alternating between visits. He also told me that my body will clear this (90% chance), if it has not already, based on the numbers HE has seen from last time.... I was the one who pushed for the US.

Had my ultrasound done today, which included the abs and liver... needless to say, I'm freaked out a bit. They gave me the pictures and on them, every organ has something marked on there (right and left kidney, liver, gall bladder). Hoping it's nothing serious, but besides my LFT... nothing on my blood tests showed issues nor do I have any pain in me, besides normal back pain from years of beating my body up from playing hockey.

Asked the Ultrasound tech what she saw and she said, politely, "Your doctor will get the lab report and if anything comes up, he would call you on Monday." I'd assume if they saw anything, they'd wheel me in to a hospital if it was serious but who knows. Now I'm on a waiting game and I'm hoping I get no calls from doctors next week, cause no news is good news.. right?

Wait for the written report.

Just like outside our bodies, inside is a bunch of bumps and lumps...which mean nothing.

Mike who has had a liver transplant and every picture known to man has a 3 mm cyst on his right kidney that lights up like a Christmas tree each time he gets an MRI or US....scares us to death...but not unusual and of no concern to his Hepatologist, Nephrologist or Oncologist. I am just a normal person and I have cysts in kidneys, liver and pancreas...of no concern to anyone. So, wait for doc to worry before calling out the dogs! I have a cyst in my spinal column that may be of concern, but we are waiting a year and taking more pictures...how odd, eh?

Thanks, I'm actually less freaked out after going out tonight... go figure. Had a great night bowling, so I'm staying active :)

I am not sure why I cannot get the full lab report. Seems like I'm only able to get some numbers but not everything (either that or they aren't checking it all).

Anyway, out of curiosity, I asked them for any blood work from when I was younger. They said prior to 1996, they have no records and anything after 1996 was no blood drawn.

I then asked them if they had blood work from my mother (who deceased 10 years ago). They told me that after 7 years of inactivity, records are discarded. Prior to 2004, they did not have a computer system so they only had paper records and those were shredded. So in other words, I'll never know if I had this since I was a child or what (but my father does not and never had it, this much I know).

All I know is that I have not felt right since last July/August.

      there your records and you have the right to access them.  just tell the receptionist you want copies of all tests.  the lab my dr uses sends me the tests to my computor.  when i get home from my appts. with blood draws, the results are alresdy on my computor.

You can request a copy of your labs once your doctor has reviewed them and signed off on them. I have a copy of every single blood test, ultrasound report, CT scan report, Mri report, etc that my mother has had done since she was diagnosed with Hepatitis.
