Thank you all.
Six days post treatment and my appetite has returned.
I really don't know what to think knowing that the virus is gone. Just thankful.
I do believe that I will be SVR at six months.
The anxiety comes and goes, but nothing like when I was on treatment.
I'll be glad when that is totally over, but I can live with it if I must.
You guys are awesome.

I would suggest Ensure, Slim Fast, or a quality five gallon jug of whey protein from GNC or Vitamin World.
On the internet, look up home made spinach shakes to be made in your blender.
Make sure you get plenty of protein, at least a couple of servings a day.
Not all powder though. Try to get as much natural protein as you can.
You will have to make yourself eat. Ribavirin lowers your red blood cells and weakens you.
Stay hydrated.
This is mostly mental. If you think you will be okay, then you will.
If you think you are going to feel like crap, then you will.
I forced myself to go to work everyday, be happy, and not feel bad for myself.
We have a lot to be thankful for since we now have an excellent chance at a cure.
And definitely a 100% chance by years end.

I am about through posting. I don't really have anything significant going on now.
If you please, use this thread to post a day-to-day or week-to-week account of your experience.
Since our stats seem to be similar, one could glean a ton of information from just this one thread.
BTW, I'm glad things are going your way and you are handling treatment well. That bodes well for you later.

It is very encouraging to receive such nice mail , I feel great

today I took 3rd Shot of Interferon , I have been taking 6 tab of Riba + 1 Tab of Sovaldi


Now 9 more shots left and , save and except headache , Body ache there are no other major side effects almost everyday I go for work ,

only thing is I get tired very fast , speed earlier I had is not there but mentally , still I am very strong

I am happy to hear that you are tolerating treatment well.
I thought about when I took my third shot and read my old posts on page one and two. Anxiety caused me to lay awake at night for a couple of hours worrying about things that did not matter.
Knowing that my red blood cell count was low, I promised myself not to make important personal or work related decisions. And to be careful what I said around my work supervisor.
I had to force myself to eat. One time, I upchucked my breakfast. So I ate a snack about an hour or so later. I only felt sick that one time. I did not want to loose a large amount of weight like I did the first time I treated with interferon and ribavirin, in 2000.
It is my opinion that drinking plenty of water and eating good food is the best way to compliment treatment. I did not take any vitamin supplements other than adding protein powder to my morning spinach shakes. I read somewhere that I should avoid grapefruit during treatment. I forgot the reasoning, but I avoided grapefruit during treatment. I ate grapefruit just a couple of days ago and very much enjoyed. Lol.
I am thankful that I am doing much better now. Knowing the virus is gone is such a blessing.
Hang in there. For me, time passed slowly during treatment - probably because I was marking the days off on a calendar.

Taking the extra two weeks of medicine probably wouldn't hurt. However, your insurance company might try to press you for reimbursement. Does anyone else have a take on this?

last thursday I was advice to skip Interferon shot as my CBC count had dropped , Virus is not detected ,


I had to undergo some more blood test and was informed that my immunity level is pretty low to avoid going to restaurants , and crowded places , eat only health food , and need to take shot of Vitamin 12 , 5 times every alternate days


after suspending Interferon for 2 days , I took same on Saturday and again I need to do CBC test on Thursday , after checking the report they will advise if dose of Interferon to continue , or to reduce or suspend ,

but after taking Interferon shot on saturday , I feel quite O K ,there are no side effects , I have continued with 6 tab of Ribavin + 1 tab of Sovaldi ,

My appetite has increased and feel overall quite good save and except some small body ache

I wish everybody speedy recovery ,

       maheshk,  absolutely great for your undetectable status at 4 weeks.  talk with your dr about a reduction rather then missing your shot so early in tx.  for genotype 1, interferon is a heavy hitter.  sov/riba alone for 12 weeks has a 62% success rate. adding interferon brings the rate to 90%.

      your dr needs to figure your absolute neutrophil count, from your cbc with differential.  if your ANC is under 1000 a dose reduction of 25 to 50% of total dose will help.  if you delayed your shot for 2 or 3 days, that will work also.  interferon has a 5 day 1/2 life. 

      glad your side effects are under control. i am not a dr, so dont take me too serious. best of everything to you

I thank all of you from bottom of my heart, for caring for me , My ANC was 1035 so Dr took the chance and gave me full dose , He said if it falls around 750 to 800 he will reduce and if goes below 500 , then he might suspend Interferon , have been asked to do CBC test every week and monitor ANC , Next CBC test is due on 7th Aug ,

Otherwise I am feeling great have no side effects but have been advice to avoid crowded place , I am vegetarian , I have natural protein , like egg white, spinach soup TOFU etc

Hi All


I took the interferon injection all my blood reports are down


Hemoglobin is little over 10


I think ANC was below 1000

But overall condition is good and do not have any major side effects


today I have given blood if ANC is below 750 then it may be problem otherwise I will go ahead with shot of Interferon

Hi Dog and everyone else


I did take a 6th shot of Interferon without reducing dose ,yesterday my ANC was at 915 , lately I have been finding my stamina is down , I get tired very fast , can't take long walks ,

I have pain in one leg some time both legs which comes and goes , some time it becomes so bad becomes unbearable , since yesterday I have slight headache , otherwise everything is O K my appetite is quite O K , now only 6 more shots of Interferon to go , I counted Ribavarian and found I have missed dose , I spoke to my Dr he suggested to take it end of the 12weeks and not to miss any more

I hope and pray that my ANC count should not go down , any body has suggestion pls advice.about pain in leg and ANC count to go up .
