Hi There and welcome,
I'm a nurse too but in mental health. I used this site a lot last year when my fiance was very sick.
It helps to hear other folk's stories and get advice and companionship that no one in your inner circle can provide because they are not living the experience.
It's a scary place to be but good to have others share their experiences and guide you in finding out more giving you the confidence to ask what's going on.
I believe that the actions my fiances family, my family and I took in September last year led to his survival. It took @8 hours to get him into hospital for intensive care. Staff who nursed him thought he would die that night.
He survived.
He was transplanted on 11th Nov 08, nineteen days after going on the transplant list.
5 days b4 we were getting married too!!!!!!
The op was a success, he was sitting up in bed the next day and although it dominates your life, he is still here and sometimes feeling really good.
We got married on 8th Feb 09 and things are good but the path isn't smooth.
Hope your situation gets better and never lose hope cos where there is breath there is life.
Best wishes and thoughts to you all in this situation,
Allyb
