Hi Board!
I did very well today with getting some of the fluid out of me. Yeah!
My MD instructed me to take the diuretics first thing in the morning, before I get out of bed. Then I am to stay horizontal for about two hours in the hope that this will result in the fluid being sucked out of my belly, instead of just my ankles.
Has anyone else ever been told such a thing?
Generally, when I can, I take the pills and sleep for another hour. Then I have to use the bathroom. I then go back and lie down, but every ten minutes or so I have to get up again to urinate. This can go on for an hour and a half if I don't get up for the day and have breakfast, etc.
It really is a pain to have to lie down and get comfortable, only to have to get up, and repeat the procedure usually seven or eight times. Lord knows there are worse things, but this pee-lie down-pee-lie down thing is just plain irritating to tired old me.
Anyway the night before I weighed 200lbs (that is not my real weight, I am too modest to tell you my real weight)
So I weighed 200, and after the drugs and the urinating, yada, yada, I lost 4.5 pounds. That was from about 11pm until 9am.
Then, I attempted to stay under 500mg of salt and I probably wound up around 600mg. I ate two cookies. Poor, yet delicious choice.
Anyway as of this evening I weigh 198. So it is all good. And the truth is that I felt like crap in the morning, and by late afternoon, I really did feel pretty good.
I ate a chiobani 2% yogurt, very watered down vitamin water (the sugared kind. Fake sugar makes me nauseated), a banana, two cookies, very watered down all natural lemonade, a large fruit salad from the supermarket, another chiobani yogurt, chicken cutlets with Mrs Dash, pasta with homemade pesto from the basil in my garden, 2 teaspoons parm cheese, slices of tomato fresh from my garden, and a salt free all natural ice pop.
Ta Da! I did it. Day one!
If I can get this fluid out of my belly in this manner I will be very happy. It is so hard to keep up doing the right things all the time, and then I wander off the no salt - morning diuretics path. Not good.
Thanks for reading.
Susan
