themiz,
since my liver problems were due to non-alcoholic fatty liver fat (nash), i do not eat food including sugar, no meat and I mainly eat vegetables. my b12 level (which is also a factor for platelet count) is slightly higher than the normal range: b12 was 209 in the the last test I did 2 days ago and normal range for b12 is (191-663). In January 2014, i consumed a lot of tuna fish and that is rich in b12 but also tuna fish includes high amount of mercury which is toxic and hence bad for liver. as a result my liver enzymes in 2014 raised 2 times but my platelet b12 level was 398 at that time.
in the test in march 2014, my platelet count was 172 and i thought this maybe due to an increase in b12 level in the period of January 2014 but i am not sure.
the platelet of my father are slightly higher than the normal range and maybe for me it is genetic, if the problems are not related to advanced liver disease or vegetarian diet.
