Volf88...not everyone who drinks alcohol gets cirrhosis.
However, of those who do have that likelihood, long term drinking, even constant moderate drinking, will move to cirrhosis.
Abuse of anything is described as an addiction. You may be in that category and may also be one of the ones with that "allergy" to alcohol that pushes the liver towards cirrhosis.
Though legal, alcohol can be a poison to certain people.
Perhaps this sensitivity you are feeling is because you are one of the "unlucky" ones who is easily addicted and/or likely to get cirrhosis.
It is unlikley that a 26 year old has this NOW, but maybe you are are really heavy abuser AND maybe you are especially sensitive to the stuff...allergic sort of.
So...if you were allergic to bees, being a beekeeper might not be a good idea....if you get my meaning.
Maybe you should become an abstainer, stick to soft beverages and think about the whole wellness thing: plenty of exercise, lots of water, eat a heart healty diet (keep the red meats in check, eat lots of veggies, fruits, whole grains, limit your intake of carbs expecially those prepackaged, limit fast food restauants, control salt intake)...why not, all those bad foods cause all kinds of troulbe...diabetes, heart disease, etc.
I hope to hear that you are scared to death you will get cirrhosis if you keep this up... and decide to start on a new path.
When a liver fails, the person gets very very sick. It is not a pretty disease. And it is terminal. Bar transplant, in the last stages many get liver cancer, and many eventually die a sad death. Let's not have that be you.
Best,
