Benefits of getting a transplant.

Hello,

My husband, Ron, had liver cancer (Hep C) and was diagnosed in the summer of 2010 - he had one tumor under 5cm, he was placed on TP list in August and was transplanted February 2011.  Although at first he did have difficulty with the anti-rejection drugs ( he's an odd fellow when it comes to any medication), but now, he's enjoying our 6 grandchildren and doing great.  Ron just turned 67.

Hi, Pam...after all this time, I always watch for your posts...Ron was the TP before Mike on this forum and we held our breath every step of the way on your journey. I think you also did Caring Bridge or one of those similar and I remember that the photos of Ron were the most important part for me...because when I went to see my guy for the first time I wasn't shocked to see ALL THOSE TUBES. Gosh they tube up everything and have so many IV and IA lines. I knew he was fine even though he looked like a science experiment.

I know that Ron had some post TP issues, but it sounds like he is doing well post TP, post heart attack, etc.

WE have some "stuff" here...a second HUGE incisional hernia (kind of right over where the drain was) and an aortic valve replacement loom out there. But, get this, he is talking about taking a part time job! Gosh he hasn't been able to work in years. That would be something, and after this was sooo very expensive, maybe it would help rebuild a bit of our retirement.
