Hi. I'm new here, but am completely terrified. I am a 36 year old female with no health problems until now. Recently, I began having abdominal pain on the left side of my bellybutton. It feels like a muscle pull or small hernia. However, when my doctor scheduled an ultrasound, he found a mass on my liver no where near my abdominal pain. I have no other symptoms, but have to have a CT scan tomorrow to look at the liver lesion. I am terrified! My bloodwork came back normal, but has anyone ever had anything like this?

My husband has a couple of cysts in his liver that are monitored, as well as a couple on his pancreas. When my guy was treating Hep C, he developed a new cyst on his neck (under the skin, about the size of a small egg). It was benign, as are all of his cyst's in organs at this time. But Mayo, his transplant center, does monitor them as he is high risk for liver cancer.

The doctor needs to find out what is going on with yours, and rule out cancer, of course. Your original complaint... pain by belly button, may be totally unrelated...something like IBS. I am very glad to hear you are being checked out and treated. Know that we have all walked some pretty dark and scary roads. We are here for you. Big Hugs

Thanks for the reply. This website is very informative. I am trying to remain positive and hopeful but there is always that constant fear thAt something could be very wrong.

Please let us know what your scan tomorrow shows. I am pulling for a positive outcome. Themister has a blood test called AFP (alpha fetoprotein) run every 6 months, and a scan. Hang in there. Big Hugs

Well...good news. I have a liver hemangioma which is basically not anything to be too concerned about. Thank God! I do however have to stop taking birth control pills and be monitored over time for growth. I will also follow up with a Gastroenterologist in the next couple of weeks. Thank you so much for keeping me in your thoughts! I am feeling very relieved. :)

Great news, Heidi! I do hope you find the cause of the pain you originally were having a scan to sort out. Keeping fingers crossed it is not anything serious, either. Thank you for reporting back and letting us know. I am relieved for you :) Big Hugs
