Returning to Working after 7 years

I am pleased to report that I will be returning to work after 7 years of disability due to ESLD, HE, and liver tx. I started looking for work 4 months ago just shy of one year post tx as I am doing well. Had one small blip with CMV in March and was put back on Valcyte temporarily.

I was upfront with prospective employers about the lapse in my employment history. I am returning to my chosen field- small history museums. I will be working 30 hours a week which is fine for now. I am enrolled in SSDI's Ticket to Work program so I will continue to receive my benefits and Medicare during my trial work period, which is important as this position has no benefits.

Thankful I survived my journey. and looking forward to my new future,

It must feel amazing to be able to return to work! Are you going to be working with those little, buggy kiddo's at this position? I have every confidence that if anyone can do this, you can. Amazing how far you have come since last year.

Yes, I will be working with children but not on a daily basis, lol.

This is, indeed, good news. And a huge encouragement to those who are in the depths of this whole liver disease mess....that one can get a life back, maybe a different life, but there is life after liver disease for MANY.

And more now that there are meds for some conditions.

WoW! Thank you Susie for sharing that...Congratulations! My husband Ontario (has HepC stage 3 and is about to start the Galexos and Sovaldi next week. Your words have given me hope and ease my fears of his future.
