Sovaldi treatment starts Monday 1/19

I got blood work done today and start taking Sovaldi and ribavirin on 1/19. I have my spreadsheet with all follow up work and intervals. The nurse made me feel very confident that I will win this battle with HVC. I feel very good going in and am more than ready to start and finish my treatment.

If you read the posts on treatment you will see that our folks have few sides....some headaches, nausea and anxiety....but their docs medicate or coached them through their sides. The new treatments are of short duration and you should do well. Most work and keep up with family during the programs. My partner took Sovaldi and Olysio for Genotype 1a. His only issue was sun sensitivity and that was the Olysio not the Sovaldi. Most have cleared the virus in a month or so and then they found themselves feeling better than in a long time with the virus GONE. So instead of feeling crappy, they were feeling better...at least that is what my partner says. I need to look back through the posts...do we know how damaged your liver is at this point. Now a days, folks don't have to get to deaths door before getting treated...we are in a new iteration of this disease. Mike was post TP before the Sovaldi was available other than in studies. He is lucky to be cleared, but it is a bummer that is Stage 3 fibrosis in his new liver.

Thanks for all the replies and support. I am in Day 2 and so far so good. A little trouble sleeping last night but nothing major. I was full of energy on day 1, worked out, washed car, etc.., I will keep you posted about every couple of days or sooner if anything changes. I feel very fortunate that my geno type 2b is treatable and that medicare is paying most of the costs.

Hang in there, I just finished 12 wk treatment, on the sovaldi etc. It was a bit rough with the fatique, and insomnia, but I got through it lost about 15 pounds no complaints there. Tee Hee! I just took it a day at a time.

I just did my viral load test in Jan/2015 and it came back non-detected. Doing 2 more one in 3 mths and then another 3 mths and I hope to see non-detected in 6 mths.

Talk to your doc. They prescribed a sleep aid for Mike!
