Good news for your husband! Harvoni is really a great treatment for Hep C. We are rooting for him! Big Hugs

hi there,
can you tell us more about
your husband?
he is obviously genotype 1, and has enough liver damage to be approved. did he treat hep c previously?
i treated 3 times with interferon/ribavirin, for one year each time. i ended up with early cirrhosis and had to treat in 2012.
i made it to svr by adding the protease inhibitor "incivek" to int/riba.
hopefully he will adjust to the meds, and sail thru his treatment.

Best wishes for an easy journey on the harvoni train. I am nearing the end of 12 weeks, July 3 is my final dose. I have had more sides than many report but I am on a treatment for cancer as well. Hard to know what side goes with what medicine.
The good news for me throughout is how much better I feel even despite the sides. I did not realize how badly the hep c made me feel.
Hope it goes well!

bivins,
I am so encouraged to hear that more and more people are getting approved for the new medications. There was a piece on 60 Minutes last night about
cancer treatments, that like the Hep C treatments, are HUGELY expensive and become unavailable to some folks because the copays or self payments are out of this world expensive.
Can you tell us how you worked out the insurance issues?
If you put Harvoni in the SEARCH box on the blue bar above the posts you will get previous posts from our members who are or have gone through the treatment. Pretty much everyone has cleared the virus, but most also report some sides. Fatigue, etc. Hydration seems to be a key.
And remember, a few sides for a few weeks beat the END STAGES of liver disease.
Let us hear often how he is doing. How often is his doctor running blood work?
When you look through the old posts you will see that we have several non responders doing quite well on the HARVONI as a retreatment option. Thank goodness.
Keep us posted.
Hugs,

bivins, this is fantastic. Mike got his drugs though state insurance in Florida. Which state are you in. He had NO copay. It was a miracle...like HE was at the end of some rainbow.
Hoping for the best news,
Hugs,
