Dee, Welcome to the Hep forum. We are a support group of those with liver disease of all sorts, as well as those who love them. So happy you will be able to treat and eradicate Hep C!

We have had many members successfully treat with Solvaldi/riba in the last year. If you key in Solvaldi/riba in the search bar, you will find many threads of other member's experiences.

Some have no noticeable sides with this treatment, and others have things like headache, stomach distress, fatigue, breathlessness. Drink 1/2 your body weight in oz. of water per day. Eat a little something fatty when you take the ribavirin. A soda cracker or toast with avocado, or a nut butter is enough to help.

Nexium (or the generic) will work well if you get heartburn type distress. Some have insomnia during this treatment,. And riba rage can pop up if you treat 24 weeks. If you have either, your doctor may want to offer you sleep meds and anti-depressant.

Hi , Themiz, have you known anyone who tried Sovaldi/Daklinza for genotype II? I think it has less side effects!

  hi dee,

  do you have cirrhosis, or advanced disease?

  have you ever been thru treatment?

  the 2 treatments are close in effectiveness. both about 92%

  its pretty much up to insurance.

  the days of rough treatment are over.

Hi ppm guy, thanks for responding. I was in a car accident in 1988, HVC by transfusion. I am 54 yrs old now, my VL - 1.9 million, Fibrous is F1. Never had treatment. Dr/ PHARMD wants me to start Sovaldi 400 mg 1 per day and Riba 600 mg 2 times a day. Had a lot of surgeries and some health problems, kinda scary about Riba, for bad side effects. confused I want to take Sovaldi/Daklinza the newest drug, due to lest side effects. What do you think?

You have a great prognosis, with those numbers and being genotype 2. Sovaldi and ribavirin is much cheaper. So it is likely your insurance will go with sov/rib. I don't think you will have any sides that can't be dealt with. Best

Barry, you don't think the side effects will be that bad, due to my prognosis? That is a relief! I hear so many bad effects about Riba.
