Welcome to the hep forum, fishwife. We are those with liver disease, and those who love them.
I see you are looking into treatment for Hep C. Those with cirrhosis are treating 24 weeks. Has your doctor determined which treatment your insurance will cover.
The treatments for GT 3:
Daklinza + Sovaldi for 12 weeks (no cirrhosis) or 24 weeks with/without ribavirin (cirrhosis)
OR
Sovaldi + ribavirin + PEG*** for 12 weeks
OR
Sovaldi + ribavirin for 24 weeks
GT3 remains the more challenging to cure. Here is a link to the latest treatment for GT3
www.streetinsider.com/Corporate+News/Bristol-Myers+Squibb+(BMY)+Announces+FDA+Approval+of+Daklinza+to+Treat+Chronic+Hepatitis+C+Genotype+3/10749569.htmlMy husband, themister, also GT3. He treated with interferon/riba , twice. He replapsed 4 weeks after EOT with his first treatment. He has been cured over 3 years. Once you are 12 weeks post the end of treatment (EOT), you will have a viral load pulled. If the virus is undetectable at that time, you are considered cured. Although themister cured Hep C, he was decompensated and needed a transplant. He has been on the transplant list at Mayo for over 2 years now.
Do you see a hepatologist affiliated with a transplant center? Not that you need a transplant now, but they seem to be the best for complicated liver disease folks.
I am not familiar with the supplements you mentioned, but no supplement cures Hep C. Some things can hurt...so run them all by your liver doc.
Again, Welcome. Let us know your progress with treatment as you move forward, fishwife. Big Hugs
