Post treatment/ Tendon or Ligament Issues?

Hi all- I noticed that Hepcsurvivor mentioned tendon issues post treatment. I have also had issues with tendons/ ligaments (wrist and tailbone) and cysts (finger and collarbone) all within several months after completing treatment with ribavirin and solvaldi. Nothing terrible (some cortisone shots and may have small surgery to wrist if not better) but I never had these issues before and wanted to know if there were others that had these problems.

My partner, Mike, has had tendon problems since transplant. 3 shoulder surgeries, and lately a repair on his elbow. He has slept with various devices holding him this way or that, it is a wonder he can sleep during the rehab time.

Someone mentioned this earlier on this site...maybe try a SEARCH on the blue bar above and see who else chimed in then.

His shoulder is bothering him again...and he has something going on with his feet...though that may not be tendons, rather some kind of nerve/neuropathy thing.

What kind of troubles are you having. Mike is both post treatment (finished May 2014) and post transplant (May 2011). His treatment regimen was sovaldi and olysio. He was on Inf and Riba in 2009.

He is alive and basically well, so if he is going to grow a big green horn on his forehead he will say the same as he does now...he is alive. And that is enough for now.

I think that was actually me...as woofer5 (my original account that's been locked). I responded in the thread by MamaLama...

There's quite a bit of online talk about this, but a major problem is that no real studies have been done. Virtually all of the evidence is anecdotal...but there's a ton of anecdotal evidence. Originally, my thinking was my tendinopathy (other connective tissue such as ligaments involved as well) was a result of the Interferon and that's what my hepatologist and internist thought as well.

I know that some drugs...by themselves...can predispose patients to tendon damage...for eg., the fluoroquinolone antibiotics.
Now I'm thinking that it's much more complicated and may well be a confluence of causes...rather than just one such as only Ribavirin or only Interferon.

Interesting, I'll have to do some more looking around.
