Hi, I posted a couple months ago and never got an answer from anyone...thought I'd try again. My brother has liver and kidney failure. He has acites real bad....it gets drained every couple weeks and each time they are taking out 8-10 liters. I have all his blood work and liver biopsy results. I can understand most of the blood work but not the biopsy. Can anyone tell me what "macrovesicular steatosis with fibrosis" and "focal acute and chronic inflammation" and "siderosis" mean? Also, my brother will not eat and he has constant diarrea (sp?) and I was wondering if he is elimating the poisons that his body is accumulating? He is very yellow. I don't know what his bili total is now but it has been as high as 14.8 and then down to 2.8. I assumed that when it dropped his liver was working but his dr told me it was not working. His ammonia was 66 in late November and alk phos 483. Since August when he first went into the hospital these numbers are all over the place. He's groggy all the time and when he talks his voice is so slurred he's hard to understand. On one of his ultrasounds it said that he had fluid in his pelvic region. He has pain from that area, could the fluid be pushing on his bladder? He is not on any medication except for vicadin and sometimes potassium. If someone out there has been through this at least post and tell me what they learned and how I can help my brother. I seem to get more from the personal experiences than the medical web sites. Thanks
